🌺 Support Samaritan Counseling Center Hawaiʻi through Foodland's Give Aloha!

Every September, Foodland customers can donate at checkout — and Foodland and its partners help match those gifts to Hawaiʻi nonprofits. Here's how you can make your grocery trip go further for local mental health care:

📅 When to Give
September 1–30

🔢 Our Organization Code
77125 — use this at checkout to direct your donation to SCCH

💰 Donation Limits
Up to $249 per organization, per Maikaʻi cardholder

🤝 How the Match Works
Foodland pools a matching fund (at least $300,000) and distributes it proportionately among participating nonprofits based on total donations received — so every gift helps grow our share.

Ways to Give at Checkout
1️⃣ Cash or Card — Tell your cashier you'd like to donate to code 77125. Be sure to show your Maikaʻi card or enter your phone number so your gift gets matched.
2️⃣ Maikaʻi Points — Every 250 points = a $5 donation to the matching fund.
3️⃣ Round Up — Round your total to the nearest dollar or drop spare change in the coin canisters.

📸 Keep your receipt! Foodland doesn't share donor names with us directly — send us a photo of your receipt if you'd like a formal acknowledgment of your tax-deductible gift.

Your support helps make counseling accessible to more people across Hawaiʻi. Mahalo for being part of our community. 💜

Anxiety isn't just "worrying too much." For a lot of people, it shows up as racing thoughts, a tight chest, trouble sleeping, avoiding things that used to feel easy, or snapping at people you love. 💜

None of that means something is wrong with you — it just means you may need some support.

Counseling gives you real, evidence-based tools to calm your nervous system, quiet the "what ifs," and think more clearly.

Samaritan Counseling Center Hawaii has been walking alongside people in our community for over 30 years. We accept insurance and have spaces available for new clients. Learn more at the link in bio.

Burnout doesn't always look like collapsing on the couch. Sometimes it looks like going through the motions — showing up, getting stuff done - but feeling completely disconnected from your own life. If that's more familiar than you'd like to admit, it's worth naming out loud instead of just trying to manage it on your own.

Therapy can help you figure out what's actually driving your feelings of burnout — and what to do about it. Samaritan Counseling Center Hawaii offers evidence-based therapy, in-person and via telehealth. And we accept insurance!

Today's reflection is from Greg Werner, who said: "Dreaming is wonderful, goal setting is crucial, but action is supreme. To make something great happen you must get busy and make it happen."

We can't wait for other people to act. It's up to all of us to take small steps to do the right thing, to advocate for ourselves. Actions can start small and then gain momentum, within us and within our communities. Change starts with us.

What goals do you have for 2025? What action will you take to move a step forward? Share with us in the comments below.

March is National Nutrition Month, and it's the perfect time to reflect on how what we eat can impact not only our physical health but our mental well-being, too. This year's theme is "Food Connects Us." 🍎🥗
https://www.eatright.org/national-nutrition-month

Food is a connecting factor for many of us. Food connects us to our cultures, our families and our friends. Sharing a meal is an opportunity to learn about its preparation, who made it and where the ingredients were sourced. Health, memories, traditions, seasons and access can all impact our relationship with food. While these factors influence the foods we eat, the foods we eat also affect our health.

A balanced, nutritious diet is a key element in supporting mental health. What we fuel our bodies with directly affects our mood, energy levels, and overall mental state.

Nourish your body and mind. Remember, self-care starts with the choices we make and the food we eat every day.

If you're looking for more resources or support, we’re here for you. Let’s take care of ourselves -- mind, body, spirit, and community. For more news, events, and self-care ideas, like this post and follow Samaritan Counseling Center Hawai'i on Facebook and Instagram.
