Please join us in recognizing Alex Bednar, Director of Texas Operations for Pafford Medical Services.
With 17 years of experience in emergency medical services, Alex oversees daily operations, compliance, and strategic growth across Pafford’s expanding Texas footprint. From supporting field crews to developing municipal and hospital partnerships, his focus is building strong operations that serve both our communities and the EMTs and paramedics providing their care.
Before joining Pafford, Alex served as a Regional Supervisor for Allegiance EMS and as a Team Leader and Clinical Manager of the Access Center for Children’s Health, where he was also recognized as Safety Officer of the Year.
Coming from a family with a history in the fire service, Alex initially entered EMS while preparing for a career as a firefighter. After completing EMT and paramedic school and beginning work on the ambulance, he discovered a passion for emergency medicine. Over time, his motivation evolved from helping people directly to what he now describes as “helping the people who help people.”
That perspective is reflected in Alex’s approach to leadership. Describing his style as affiliative and democratic, he believes those most affected by decisions should have a voice in shaping them. He values listening to field crews, seeking input from his team, and creating an environment where employees feel heard, supported, and proud of their work. For Alex, that pride extends to appearance, patient care, clinical excellence, empathy, and service.
Alex is especially passionate about developing personnel and creating opportunities for EMS professionals to build meaningful, lasting careers. Through continued education, advanced training, strong clinical standards, and access to the right resources, he hopes to help employees grow into future leaders while strengthening the profession as a whole. He also advocates for better working conditions, improved reimbursement, recognition of EMS as an essential service, and stronger career pathways for EMS professionals.
As Pafford continues to grow in Texas, Alex recognizes the unique needs of the communities his teams serve. From rural areas to major metropolitan communities, his goal is to ensure patients receive the same professionalism, compassion, and high-quality care, while providing employees with the support and opportunities they need to succeed.
As Alex puts it, “Leadership is not about being in charge. It is about taking care of those in your charge.”
