In the wake of the devastating earthquake that struck Morocco, Houston Mayor Sylvester in collaboration with the Arab American Culture and Community Center and the Moroccan Society of Houston, will host a donation drive this weekend, September 16th and 17th, from 10 AM to 3 PM, to gather essential supplies for those impacted.

The donation drive aims to collect essential items that will be of immense help to those grappling with the aftermath of the earthquake. The needed items include tents, blankets, thermos bottles, hygiene kits, socks, shoes, first aid kits and flashlights.

Two convenient drop-off locations have been established for those wishing to contribute to this humanitarian effort:

1. Arab American Cultural and Community Center

2. Warehouse
8500 Market St. Suite
Houston, Texas 77029

The City of Houston will enter Stage Two of the City’s Drought Contingency Plan, effective August 27, 2023.

During Stage Two, outdoor water use will be restricted except for the following time periods:

⏰Between the hours of 7PM and 5AM with the following schedule:

🗓️Sundays and Thursdays for single-family residential customers with even-numbered street addresses

🗓️Saturdays and Wednesdays for single-family residential customers with odd-numbered street addresses

🗓️Tuesdays and Fridays for all other customers

Any water customer who violates these watering times will be issued a written warning for a first-time violation. Any subsequent violations are subject to a fine up to $2,000 for each occurrence of the offense (Section 54.001 of the Texas Local Government Code).

9:10 am to 10:30 am - Trek with the Audubon Society along the bayou trails to spot birds & native vegetation

This month, you're in for an extra special treat! BBP is bringing experts from the Audubon Society who will identify bird species, giving fascinating insights into their behaviors and habitats, plus amazing details about native trees, plants and flowers - pointing out some that can be eaten by Humans.

They'll have a few binoculars for us to use. Feel free to bring your own if you have them. Wear comfortable shoes.

We'll provide FREE cold water, icy popsicles and snack bars.

Meet up at the Wellness Walk signs near the covered picnic tables next to the parking lot by 8:30 am and again at 9 am.
