This great group from the family of companies at 360 Legal, including teammates from Swyft Filings and SnapMailbox, repacked 1,000 lbs. of beans into the 2-lb. bags we distribute from our food pantries. The beans will be paired with rice for complete-protein meals. Thank you, 360 Legal! You rocked it!

Our generous friends at EOG Resources helped ready our clients for hurricane season by donating the contents of this year’s CCSC Hurricane Kits and then volunteering their time to assemble the items into easy-to-carry zippered tote bags.

Kits include a 5-gallon collapsible water container, two rain ponchos, a Mylar blanket, work gloves, a lantern, a flashlight, batteries, cans of tuna, granola bars, peanut butter crackers, a can opener, wet wipes, and a water-resistant zippered document holder containing CCSC information and a KHOU 11 News Hurricane Preparedness Guide. BIG thanks to EOG and KHOU 11 News!

CCSC is fortunate to enjoy a long-term partnership with Houston Junior Forum. HJF supports CCSC's programming in many ways, most recently with a grant to our Back To School program, which outfits underserved children with school supplies, backpacks and clothing gift cards for the upcoming school year. HJF also fields volunteer teams for CCSC's Youth Services programs.

Thank you, HJF, for all you do to help underserved youth in Houston. Pictured, from left, HJF President Sharon Cook, CCSC Grants and Donor Relations Manager Amy Price, and CCSC Senior Director of Development Sara Pybus.

Martha F., 75, lives on a fixed income and visited CCSC for the first time in April. “Food prices are going up. It’s tight. And gas is crazy.”

CCSC is seeing increased numbers of vulnerable populations, like senior citizens, coming in for food. According to Rice University’s Kinder Institute, approximately 39% of Houston and Harris County households experience moderate-to-high food insecurity.

With your support, CCSC can continue to make a difference in the lives of neighbors in need like Martha.
