Last Thursday, St. Martin's Episcopal Church’s Christian Life Study group hosted a food drive for CCSC, then over the weekend West U Baptist/ Crosspoint Church - Bellaire and St. Luke's UMC - Houston ran food drives, and yesterday St. Luke's Presbyterian Church collected food for the pantries. CCSC is grateful for its church community’s continuing efforts to help put food on the tables of Houstonians in need.

This great group of St. Anne Catholic Community Guild members packaged donations from the full Guild into 150 hygiene kits, plus a variety of extra supplies, to donate to CCSC. Each kit contained shampoo, toothbrushes and toothpaste, soap, deodorant and a variety of items such as razors, lotions, and Band-Aids. The packing team: top row from left, Mary Ann Campbell, Sharon Cameron, and Patt Denson; and bottom row, from left, Connie Swift, Peggy Dwyer, and Susan Papalexandris. Thank you, ladies!

This Martha’s Way student was thankful to find out that she could also access CCSC’s Emergency Services food program. Martha's Way is CCSC's vocational training that prepares men and women to be self-employed residential housekeepers. For more information on enrolling in Martha's Way, or hiring a Martha's Way trained housekeeper, contact Ana Tappan at [email protected].

EMERGENCY SERVICES-CENTRAL: Emergency Services-Central offers assistance with basic needs such as food, clothing, medical assistance, and rental /utility assistance.

EMERGENCY SERVICES-SOUTHWEST: Emergency Services-Southwest offers food packages to those in need in the Sharpstown area.

JOBNET: JobNet provides job seekers with a variety of skill-building services and access to the "tools" they require.

MARTHA'S WAY: The Martha's Way domestic housekeeping training program is a unique vocational training program designed to equip clients to operate their own professional housekeeping businesses.

YOUTH SERVICES: Youth Services has 3 main programs--
Back to School, a school supply and uniform program; Jingle Bell Express, a Christmas toy and book program; and the Moran Vision Care program, a collaboration with UH that provides free vision screening and glasses to school age children.

I visited with Wayne at the Branard location this morning. He was a wonderful volunteer. Also, the young men in the grocery area were very kind. My thanks to them for helping me carry bags to the car. And thanks to you for helping your neighbors!
