Have you ever wondered why the roads at Historic Hollywood Cemetery are so narrow? 🚙🌿

When the cemetery was established in 1895, its roads were designed for horse-drawn carriages, with some following the shoreline of a lake that was later filled in during the 1920s. A portion of the original brick road still remains today, giving visitors a special glimpse into Hollywood’s earliest years!

Because burial spaces, monuments, and historic features now closely surround these original roadways, they cannot be widened without disturbing important pieces of the cemetery’s history. Our narrow roads are just one of the many unique features that make Historic Hollywood Cemetery so special 🤍

🤍 Our cemetery cleanup resumes today as our team continues working through the grounds in designated zones. This biannual process helps keep the cemetery safe, accessible, and properly maintained for every family who visits.

🕊️ We recognize that decorations are placed with love and meaning. Items are removed only when they do not follow cemetery guidelines or interfere with the care and maintenance of the grounds. Full decoration guidelines are available through the link in our bio or by scanning the QR codes posted around the cemetery.

Cemetery Cleanup Reminder 🤍

As our bi-annual cemetery cleanup continues, here are a few reminders regarding our decoration guidelines!

Pictured are a few examples of non-permitted items that are subject to removal during cleanup.

Our grounds crew is working through the cemetery in zones, and we encourage families to collect any non-permitted items they wish to keep from areas that have not yet been cleaned.

Please remember: Once an item is removed by our grounds crew, it will be discarded and cannot be recovered.

Families are still welcome to honor and decorate for their loved ones within our cemetery guidelines! For a complete list of permitted and non-permitted decorations, please scan the QR codes located throughout the cemetery or visit our website.

🌿 Historic Hollywood Cemetery will be hosting a large funeral service today, and we anticipate a higher number of guests than usual. To provide the family and their guests with the space and privacy needed during their service, access to the back portion of the cemetery will be temporarily restricted from approximately 12:30-2:00 PM.

⚠️ During this time, all access points leading to the back of the cemetery will be blocked off with cones. We kindly ask visitors not to move or drive around the cones until the service has concluded.

🤍 Access will reopen following the service. We appreciate your cooperation and ask that you please plan your visit accordingly as we provide a respectful environment for the family and their guests.

Our bi-annual cemetery cleanup is officially underway! 🌿🤍

As part of our continued care and maintenance of Historic Hollywood Cemetery, our team will be tidying the grounds and removing items that fall outside of our cemetery decoration guidelines.

Families are still welcome and encouraged to decorate their loved ones’ memorials. We simply ask that decorations follow our guidelines so we can continue keeping Hollywood beautiful, safe, and well cared for while honoring the families we serve.

Our cemetery clean up continues inside the mausoleum. 🤍

As part of our ongoing care and maintenance, we ask that families remove any non-permitted items from their loved one’s space. Cemetery Rules and Regulations can be found by scanning the QR code located inside and outside the mausoleum. 🌱

We know decorating a loved one’s space can be a meaningful part of remembering them, and families are still welcome to decorate within our cemetery guidelines. These guidelines allow us to properly clean and maintain the mausoleum while keeping the space safe, beautiful, and respectful for all who visit.
