Established in 2009, An-Nisa Hope Center is a faith-informed, culturally sensitive 501(c)(3) nonprofit providing holistic support to individuals

and families navigating crisis, healing, and growth. We offer domestic violence and case management support, trauma-informed mental health services, short-term financial assistance, community education, community fulfillment, and a food pantry, which serves families with care. Our services are designed to meet people where they are, honoring cultural values, lived experiences, and individual circumstances. At An-Nisa, we recognize that healing does not happen in isolation. Our approach addresses both immediate needs and long-term stability, working to restore self-sufficiency, advocate for survivors, strengthen families, and address the root causes of crisis in underserved communities. Grounded in empathy, trust, and community partnership, An-Nisa welcomes individuals of all backgrounds. Through culturally sensitive care, prevention-focused education, and sustained support, we strive to build safer homes, healthier relationships, and more resilient communities. Today, An-Nisa serves communities in Houston, Texas and Southfield, Michigan, expanding access to compassionate, culturally responsive care where it is needed most.

Leadership isn’t about being the loudest voice. It’s about knowing exactly when to speak, when to hold back, and when to respond with purpose instead of reflex.

This past Saturday, we hosted CAYA’s first ever professional workshop, facilitated by Kalim Saiyed, on Emotional Intelligence in Leadership 🥇

Special shoutout to Khanvo Coffee HTX | Coffee Cart for keeping us fueled with their incredible drinks! ☕️

Renovations in motion 🚜🔨

Here’s a little photo dump of some of the renovations underway at the Community Center. It may look messy and dusty (and the heat is no joke), but every day brings us one step closer to opening the doors to the community. There’s still a lot of work ahead, much more dirt, drywall, designing, and hard work. We’re excited to see it all come together and can’t wait to welcome everyone. Stay tuned for more updates! 🚧🔧

Community support can help bring this vision to life. Your support means the world to us. If you would like to contribute to this project, you can donate here: http://Annisa.org/community-center

When we make an effort to connect with and understand each other before we jump to correct, our relationships flourish 🧑‍🧑‍🧒

Safra Khan led the youth discussion, helping them understand that while our feelings are always valid, not every behavior is. Through discussions and examples, we learned healthy communication skills, emotional regulation, boundary-setting, and ways to repair relationships after difficult moments ❤️‍🩹

Sadaf led the family discussion, where she led the parents in understanding their personal family language, their teenagers’ need for autonomy, their children’s want for support without fixing, and the need to understand before making any judgment on their kids 🌸

We’re so grateful for everyone who attended and are excited to see you all again for the finale of the Family Training Series on August 22: session 3!

🎟️ Get your ticket for session 3: annisa.org/the-home-we-build (1 ticket covers the whole family). Link in bio!

Peer pressure doesn’t always come from strangers, it also can come from the people that are close to you. Just because everyone does something doesn’t mean you have to. Don’t be afraid to speak up for yourself. 🩵
