Our stuffy friends had a wonderful time at the library sleepover. We just knew those stuffies would get into a little mischief while they were alone. It appears they all had a lot of fun celebrating their pal, Pooh.

REMINDER:
We will be holding our October Special Family Night tomorrow, October 13th from 4-6 pm. (FREE EVENT)

We will be celebrating one of our favorite stuffies! Friends are invited to bring their own stuffy for our annual Stuffy Sleepover. Storytime with Mrs. Susan will take place at 5:30 pm. Our friend, Fetch, will make an appearance before the night is over.

In the spirit of the fall season, friends can dress as their favorite book character, if they wish.

See you tomorrow for some stuffy fun!

“Hey, di**le di**le, the cat and the fiddle, the cow jumped over the moon. The little dog laughed to see such sport. And the dish ran away with the spoon.” (They ran to the library!)😆

Thank you to the The Houston Pumpkin Festival parade committee for inviting us to take part in the annual parade again this year! We had a lot of fun. We chose to be a favorite nursery rhyme this year. Many of our young readers did not know who we were supposed to be. 😕 So it made us ask: what happened to nursery rhymes?

Did you know:
Nursery rhymes have benefit and value in early literacy. They help with phonological awareness, vocabulary expansion, memory/recall and story sequencing; just to name a few critical concepts for learning how to read.

We encourage everyone to sing or recite nursery rhymes to and with your young learners. It can help those students who may be having difficulty with progressing with their reading skills. (Not all of them are grim with sad endings)

Please stop in the library for more tips on building skills and a solid foundation for early literacy.

FUN FACT: Mother Goose was not a real person. She was a fictionalized character created by Charles Perrault in the late 1600s. In the late 1700s, English publishers shifted the Mother Goose identity to nursery rhymes, where it remains permanently recognized.

And finally, please remember to support our Houston Fire Department this year! We are grateful for their work and community partnership.
