Na'Haijah is a student at High School for Law and Justice Early College with plans to pursue Political Science and Business Law.

This summer, Na'Haijah joined MOEYE to gain new experiences, build new skills, and strengthen the ones she already had and she did just that! Her confidence, curiosity, and willingness to learn made a lasting impact on our team. We're so happy to have her on our team this Summer. 👏🏾

Get Ready for Back to School!

The Mayor's Back to School & Health Fair Presented by Shell is returning to help Houston families prepare for a successful school year!

August 1, 2026
8:00 AM to 2:00 PM
George R. Brown Convention Center
1001 Avenida De Las Americas
Houston, TX 77010

Eligible elementary school students will receive a FREE backpack filled with school supplies, while families can take advantage of free on-site services, including:
Dental screenings and sealants
Vision screenings
Mental health screenings
Routine immunizations

The event also connects families with valuable health and community resources, helping ensure every child has the support they need to thrive in the classroom and beyond.

Don't miss this opportunity to prepare for the new school year with essential supplies, health services, and community support!

Last Monday, the Mayor's Office of Education & Youth Engagement was proud to host our Summer 2026 Intern Social, bringing together interns from across City Hall for an afternoon of networking, connection, and celebration.

We were honored to welcome Mayor John Whitmire, who shared words of encouragement and thanked our interns for their dedication and service to the City of Houston. 💙

To all of our interns, thank you for your hard work, passion, and commitment to making a difference this summer. We can't wait to see all that you'll accomplish next!

We had an amazing time welcoming Breakthrough Houston students for Career Day, where they explored City Hall, learned about careers in public service, and heard from Council Member Joe Panzarella about making an impact in the community. 🏛️💙
