This, in a nutshell, is a big motivation for HCPL's whole family, all ages Summer Reading Program. Kids who see their parents and caregivers reading for pleasure tend to pick up the habit themselves. Why is that important? Because, generally speaking, it has a significant relation to academic and career success. In short, readers become leaders. Sign the whole family up for Summer Reading today! hcpl.beanstack.org

At the World Affairs Council of Greater Houston we are proud to host a conversation with Ben Rhodes on June 10th. President Obama's former Chief Speechwriter, Deputy National Security Advisor, and close confidant, Ben Rhodes, who is also a Rice University graduate, will be expanding on his travels around the globe in a deeply personal, beautifully observed quest for answers. Accompanying us as moderator will be Evan Osnos, Pulitzer Prize-winning writer at The New Yorker. Together they will be answering the audience’s questions and navigating through the latest developments in America. All ticket purchases include a signed copy of Rhode's new work 'After the Fall: Being American in the World We've Made.'
Hi! Any idea if you will be reopening branches to the public for summer?
Great book ,great photos, just published. The money this Capt makes is unbelievable to move offshore drilling units and travel the world . Available at Amazon .com. bookstore
Any update when the libraries may reopen for in-person visits? I miss book browsing!
Attention Houston-area poets: Poets Northwest's 34th Annual Spring Fling Poetry Contests are now open, so start penning those poems. Twenty-seven awesome opportunities! Plenty of prize money waiting for winners - deadline March 25, 2021.
Hey! I live in Norwich in England, UK. I'm currently reading this book and it looks like it was from your library! Just wanted to say how cool it is that it has made it all the way here 😊
Every year Banned Books Week is a big deal and I see all the post. Will Librarians stand with Powell's books today as they were forced to close for selling a book online? Evacuating employees and customers out a back door? This is modern censorship. Do your thing.
Will you please share Curbside Larry's video that explains curbside voting in Houston? And also, could Curbside Larry please, please get a Twitter account?
Are you all offering any virtual storytime options for preschool kids? My girls so miss going to the library to hear stories and participate with the story teller.
#CurbsideLarry is my new boyfriend. Thank you, Harris County Public Library!!! #wearamask #readabook
We made some fun collage art today with the MFAH Virtual Art Camp. Thanks HCPL and Maud Marks Library!
Hi Book Readers! I found this orange card with this sweet message inside this book (came in for me as a hold). It looks like it is from a grandchild named Cara/Caro. I am not sure the library tracks where holds come from, but in case someone knows who this belongs to/wants it back, thought it wouldn't hurt to post here. :)
