Why not branch out into something new this fall? We will be having two community tree plantings in Alexandria this November, we hope to see you there!

Come meet new people, learn about stream health, and participate in community greening. No experience necessary, tools and gloves are provided but you are welcome to bring your own!

Let’s kick these tires to the curb (responsibly)!

We are happy to announce that after two years, the tire recycling event is BACK!!

Roll on in from 8am to Noon on Saturday, September 20th to recycle your tires. We are on a first come, first serve basis. Our event is contingent on having volunteers to help with the event, so please consider volunteering!

2025 Juniata River Cleanup!

Save the date for the 2025 River Cleanup! 🛶

Join us for a fun day of cleaning up our River. Bring your own kayak or canoe, or borrow one from Rothrock Outfitters! We will have a free shuttle, lunch, t-shirts, and ice cream! 🍦

With the rain it has delayed scouting for cleanup spots, but we will keep you updated when the location has been finalized.

On-lot septic systems treat and dispose of wastewater from homes or buildings in most of rural Pennsylvania. They include typical septic tanks and drainfields, advanced treatment systems, holding tanks, cesspools, or any other on-lot system. Septic system owners or users are typically responsible for system care and maintenance. This brief survey aims to understand owner/user practices related to septic system operation and maintenance across Pennsylvania. Ultimately, findings will be used to identify existing needs for septic system maintenance in Pennsylvania and to design future Extension programs on septic system and private water system care and maintenance.

Canoe keep a secret? The weight results are in!🚮

In case you missed it, we held our 11th annual river cleanup with Rothrock Outfitters on August 25th! Up to 50 dedicated community volunteers and Juniata College students paddled together to help clean up our local waterways. 🛶
