In Massachusetts, riding the Cape Cod Dinner Train aboard the Cape Cod Central Railroad is one of the most memorable experiences of the summer in the state! This elegant rail experience lets you settle into a restored dining car, sit at a table dressed with white linens, and enjoy a slow-moving ride through Cape Cod while dinner is served right to you. Along the way, the train rolls past classic Cape scenery, including wooded stretches, coastal marshes, quiet towns, and water views, making the whole evening feel like a step back into a more relaxed time. The full trip lasts about 3 to 3.5 hours, with seating options that include traditional dining cars and dome seating for bigger views. The meal is part of the ticket, while alcoholic drinks and other beverages are available separately from the onboard bar.
For June, the dinner itself is a full gourmet experience, starting with a grazing board filled with seasonal dip, fresh vegetables, artisan cheese, spreads, condiments, and crisps, followed by lobster chowder made with lobster meat, bacon, potato, sherry, cream, and warm bread. Entrée choices include dishes like spring beef braciole, sweet onion stuffed chicken breast, baked cod loin, stuffed courgette, and kale and walnut pesto orecchiette, with sides and seasonal vegetables served alongside. Dessert is chef’s choice for the day. Smart or upscale casual dress is recommended, and the train runs rain or shine, so the ride still goes even if the weather changes. The menu does fluctuate by month, but is always delicious. The next available dinner train is Thursday, June 25th, and the Cape Cod Dinner Train continues on select Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays through October!
