⏳ FIVE CATS NEED PLACEMENT BY 5:00 P.M. ON 10/30/26.
KT, Torvald, Lulu, Sky and Shirley came to IACS after living indoors with other cats but having very limited socialization with people. They're comfortable around cats, but humans are still unfamiliar and frightening.
After weeks at the shelter, they're struggling. Fear may look like hiding, freezing, hissing, swatting or trying to escape. They need a quieter environment, patience and time to adjust at their own pace.
🐱 KT, 4 years, 6 pounds
KT remains very fearful and difficult to handle, but we're seeing small signs of progress. Recently, she stopped hissing while treats were placed in her condo and almost came down from her shelf to eat them.
🐱 TORVALD, 2 years, 8 pounds
Torvald is extremely stressed by confinement and may hiss or charge when his condo is opened. Recently, treats helped him visibly relax.
🐱 LULU, 2 years, 7 pounds
Lulu is making encouraging progress! She recently came to the front of her condo, gently pawed at the door, sniffed a staff member's hand and stayed nearby for treats. She also discovered that feather toys are pretty great.
🐱 SKY, 2 years, 5 pounds
Sky prefers hiding under blankets and avoiding touch. She's eating and using her litter box normally but remains very frightened.
🐱 SHIRLEY, 3 years, 5 pounds
Shirley remains intensely fearful of handling and may growl, hiss, swat or try to escape. Staff believe that given time and the right environment, she has the potential to become a wonderful companion.
All five are Experienced with Cats, Unknown with Dogs, Unknown with children.
Their deadlines are based on their quality of life in the shelter. All five are available for adoption, foster, or rescue.
