Next Monday, we welcome June and the promise of summer!!!🌞 The month's menu is packed with delicious, nutritious food, cooked from scratch with love by our wonderful kitchen staff every morning💖! The meals are designed for seniors by our registered dietician, who also has included some information about protein for strength and healthy aging. YUM!!!!!😋

The Legislature proclaimed May 2026 as 🫶Older Americans Month🫶, recognizing the important contributions of older adults in Tompkins County and highlighting the 2026 theme, “Champion Your Health,” which emphasizes prevention, wellness, and healthy aging.

The proclamation also recognized the work of the Tompkins County Office for the Aging, Lifelong TCSCC, and Foodnet Meals on Wheels in supporting older residents through nutrition services, social engagement, and programs that promote independence and community connection. Chair of the Legislature Shawna Black presented the proclamation to Lifelong TCSCC Director Liza Burger and Foodnet Registered Dietitian Jill Seeley, who shared remarks.

Foodnet Meals on Wheels will be closed for Memorial Day on Monday May 25. There will not be home-delivered meals or community dining on Monday. The Monday meals (Frozen Swiss Cheeseburger) have already been delivered, so home-delivered meal clients will have their food for the holiday. Home-delivered meals and community dining will resume on Tuesday, May 26. Have a great weekend everyone!!

Today the Lansing community diners at the Cayuga Health, A Member of Centralus Health space in The Shops at Ithaca Mall were treated with placemats drawn by Juniors and Seniors at Groton Central School District. The diners loved the beautiful artwork, and many kept their placemats to display in their homes!! THANK YOU GROTON HIGH SCHOOLERS!!!!! 🙌💖

Last night, the Tompkins County Legislature issued a proclamation declaring May 2026 to be Older Americans Month!

The declaration urges every resident of Tompkins County to celebrate and create environments that promote independence and support older adults in championing their health.

Legislature Chair Shawna Black presented the proclamation to representatives of two contractors of the Tompkins County Office for the Aging: Liza Burger, executive director of Lifelong TCSCC, and Jill Seeley, Foodnet's registered dietician.
