Recently, PJ Library Jacksonville families came together at Doing Dishes Pottery Studios for our Rosh Hashanah pottery celebration. We had such an overwhelming response that we turned it into a two-day event!

Thank you to all of the wonderful families who joined us to design special pottery pieces to take home and enjoy during this year’s High Holiday season. We loved celebrating, creating, and spending time together!

THE SCHOOL DAY IS ONLY PART OF THE DAY

Did You Know?

Here in Duval County, 23.3% of children were estimated to experience food insecurity, compared with 18.4% statewide in the latest county data according to the Florida Department of Health.

School meals are an important resource. In fact, 104 Duval County Public Schools are participating in the Community Eligibility Provision this year, providing breakfast and lunch at no charge to enrolled students. But children still need to eat after the school day ends, on weekends, and throughout school breaks.

Northeast Florida educators are invited to join us on our upcoming Teacher’s Night, an evening at the Frisch Family Holocaust Memorial Gallery. The program will include networking, a tour of our current exhibit, “Fighting Antisemitism: From Dreyfus to Today”; and a presentation from a member of our Speakers Bureau.

We’ll have teaching trunks on display and will walk everyone through all of the resources we have to offer, followed by an open discussion with attending educators and our partners from The Florida Holocaust Museum about how we can help YOU teach the Holocaust. Lite bites will be served.

Did You Know?

In a recent survey of adults under 40, 63% did not know that six million Jews were murdered during the Holocaust. In fact, more than 1 in 10 of those surveyed did not know the word “Holocaust” at all. The LJD Jewish Family & Community Services (JFCS) is working to increase knowledge surrounding this deeply tragic time in history through our Holocaust Education program. This initiative is designed to assist Northeast Florida educators in teaching their students about the Holocaust.

Did You Know?

A fixed income can leave little room for rising grocery costs, medical expenses, home repairs, transportation, or an unexpected bill.

Newly released 2026 research from Feeding America estimates that nearly 13 million seniors and older adults experienced food insecurity at some point during 2024.

Food insecurity doesn’t have an age limit. Limited mobility, a health condition, the loss of a driver's license, or lack of transportation can turn even a routine trip to the grocery store into a challenge. Access to food assistance can help seniors maintain nutrition, independence, and dignity while preserving limited income for other necessities.

📣WE'RE HIRING: PJ LIBRARY COORDINATOR POSITION!📣

The PJ Library Coordinator is responsible for creating, implementing, and promoting PJ Library programming. This role involves planning and executing engagement activities to support PJ Library Jacksonville, our local chapter of this award-winning Jewish family and community engagement program for children from newborns to eight years old. The coordinator will work to establish and maintain relationships with PJ Library families and implement programs throughout the year for families raising children with a Jewish connection.
