At ECS4Kids, we don’t just serve children. We walk alongside families.

That can mean helping a parent find transportation, enroll in health care, search for a job, set goals or feel more connected to their child’s classroom. It can mean helping a family find stability when life feels uncertain.
For 60 years, this work has been about more than early learning. It has been about building a stronger foundation for children and the people who love them. Because when families are supported, children thrive.

A diagnosis is not a ceiling. Unfortunately, our society often places limitations (spoken and unspoken) on children diagnosed with special needs, developmental delays or learning disabilities.

But here’s the truth: with the right support, children with special needs can break through those invisible limits and excel beyond our wildest dreams.

In this episode of The Kids’ Table, Angela Callahan shares how her son went from developmental delays as a young child to becoming a straight-A student in advanced classes.

The difference was support.

At ECS4Kids, her son’s needs were met. Angela and her husband also learned how to recognize what he needed and support him at home. That full-family support helped him grow, thrive and reach his potential.

Children with special needs are capable of incredible things. They deserve the right support, high expectations and adults who believe in their future.

Have a seat at The Kids’ Table!

Formerly known as The Sandbox, our ECS4Kids podcast is returning with a new name, a renewed focus and new conversations created for parents, educators and everyone committed to helping children thrive.

At The Kids’ Table, we’ll talk with parents, educators and experts about the real questions families face — from child development and school readiness to family support, early learning and the everyday work of helping children grow.

Our first new episode features Angela Callahan, an ECS4Kids parent alumna whose son graduated from our program a decade ago. Angela shares how ECS4Kids supported her son with special needs, helped her family better understand how to support him at home and gave them encouragement during a difficult season.

Her story is a reminder that no child’s future should be defined by a diagnosis. With the right support, children can grow, learn and build strong futures.

“I wanted to donate to ECS4Kids because every child deserves the opportunity to feel supported, loved, and empowered to reach their full potential. If my contribution can make even a small difference in a child’s life, then it’s worth it.”
- Dr. Brian Ortiz, Oelrich Construction, Inc.

Once again, TNT Impact, the Gainesville Hub of Operation Impact, has extended its philanthropic reach to support the mission of ECS4Kids 🥹 This time, they adopted our Highlands Center and donated classroom supplies to help equip our little learners for a successful school year 🎨🖍️

And as if that weren’t enough, they shared the joy of literacy by reading some of their classroom favorites with our little learners 📖🤩

We’re grateful for community partners like Oelrich Construction, Inc. and individuals like Tee Jackson who believe in investing in our children and helping them start the year strong. Together, we’re creating brighter beginnings and bigger possibilities for our kiddos!

Back-to-school season brings a fresh start & new opportunities for children to learn & grow. But for families facing economic hardship, covering the cost of school supplies can be overwhelming. And when families can’t afford what their children need, teachers & schools often step up to help fill the gap… even while working within limited budgets & resources of their own.

That’s why community partners like P.E.O. Chapter FJ of Clermont, Florida are so important!

Members turned school supply shopping into a mission, generously filling the shelves of our Clermont ECS4Kids center with everything from crayons to backpacks! They also toured the center & learned how ECS4Kids is helping shape brighter futures for local children.

When the community invests in our children, they’re not only providing supplies — they’re helping ensure parents & educators have one less need to worry about.
