🌺 Latinas Leaders: Voices that Inspire 🌺
Today we recognize Carmen Roche, a woman whose career reflects service, leadership, and a constant commitment to the safety and well-being of her community.
Carmen is part of the Janesville Police Department and currently serves as a School Resource Officer. In this role, her work goes far beyond safety within schools: officers in the program also serve as educators, informal mentors, and resources for students, families, and school staff, seeking to create positive relationships with young people.
Throughout her career, Carmen has also participated in initiatives that bring the police closer to the community. Programs like Shop with a Cop have allowed her to connect directly with children and families in Janesville, while her training and work on issues like school safety and human trafficking have expanded her impact beyond traditional officer duties. In July 2026, she participated in a community event in Janesville to educate the public about the realities of human trafficking and the importance of recognizing that it can also happen within our own communities.
Her vocation of service does not end when her shift is over. Carmen has worked as a volunteer with Sheep Dog Impact Assistance, an organization that supports veterans and first responders and participates in disaster response missions. After Hurricane Ian, Carmen traveled to Florida to collaborate in recovery efforts, and in 2024 she used her own days off to help families in Janesville after the tornado that hit the community.
Her work and leadership have received various recognitions. In 2025, Carmen was recognized as one of the Women of Distinction by YWCA Rock County, an honor awarded to women who have demonstrated leadership, community service, and commitment to the well-being of others. Her career also includes recognitions within law enforcement for her service and dedication.
Today we celebrate Carmen Roche as part of "Latinas Leaders: Voices that Inspire," for a career that demonstrates that serving a community can take many forms: protecting, educating, supporting, responding when others need help, and building relationships that leave a much deeper mark than the uniform. 💜

Hoy reconocemos a Carmen Roche, una mujer cuya trayectoria refleja servicio, liderazgo y un compromiso constante con la seguridad y el bienestar de su comunidad.
Carmen forma parte del Janesville Police Department y actualmente sirve como School Resource Officer. En este rol, su trabajo va mucho más allá de la seguridad dentro de las escuelas: los oficiales del programa también sirven como educadores, mentores informales y recursos para estudiantes, familias y personal escolar, buscando crear relaciones positivas con los jóvenes.

Officers in the SRO program also serve as educators, informal counselors, and resources for students, families, and school staff while building positive relationships with young people.
Throughout her career, Carmen has also participated in initiatives that bring law enforcement and the community together. Programs such as Shop with a Cop have given her opportunities to connect directly with Janesville children and families, while her training and work in school safety and human-trafficking awareness have expanded her impact beyond traditional policing. In July 2026, she participated in a Janesville community event focused on educating the public about the realities of human trafficking and the importance of recognizing that it can happen within our own communities.
Her commitment to service does not end when her shift does.
