🥎 JANESVILLE FIRST RESPONDER SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT — THIS SATURDAY! 🥎

We are keeping our fingers crossed that the weather forecast improves, but either way, we are excited for the first Janesville First Responder Softball Tournament this Saturday, August 15!

Games begin at 8:00 AM, with the tournament expected to wrap up around 8:00 PM. Come out and enjoy a day of softball, food, family fun, raffles, a dunk tank, and special events for kids and adults!

The Janesville Police Department K9 Unit is teaming with the Beloit Sky Carp for a fundraiser event at ABC Stadium. Every ticket purchased through the link below directly supports the Janesville Police Department K9 Unit. Police K9's and handlers will be present for people to meet and ask questions.

The K9 Unit is completely supported by donations and fundraising to provide food, medical expenses, squads, and associated equipment.

🚨Reminder: First Annual First Responder Softball Tournament will be on Saturday, August 15,2026. We have availability for 2 more teams, and then the registration for the tournament will be closed. Team medals will be sponsored by Bigfoot Holsters LLC 🥇🥈

In addition to competitive softball, there will be plenty of activities for kids, including:
⚾Throwing Contest
🏃‍➡️Timed Base Running
🌊Water Dunk Tank and much more!

The Janesville Police Department announces the hiring of six police officers hired July 27th, 2026. The six officers were sworn in during a ceremony in Council Chambers on July 29th, 2026.

Officer Ian R. Grice is from Beloit, WI. He graduated from Turner High School and joined the US Army where he currently is a combat engineer and squad leader. He has served in the army since 2011. Officer Grice is a lateral transfer who began his law enforcement career as a Correctional Officer in 2022 and moved to Patrol Officer in 2024, bringing 2 years of experience to the Janesville Police Department.

Officer Noah L. Johnson is from Milton, WI. He graduated from Milton High School and earned his associate degree in Criminal Justice from Blackhawk Technical College in 2017. Officer Johnson is a lateral transfer who began his career in 2017, bringing 9 years of experience to Janesville Police Department. He has served as a Patrol Officer, Field Training Officer, a Standardized Field Sobriety Testing (SFST) instructor, an Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement (ARIDE) Instructor, a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE), and a member of a SWAT team.

Officer Tyler. R. Leith is from Milton, WI. He graduated from Milton High School and earned his bachelor’s degree in education - Health, Physical Education, and Adapted Physical Education with an emphasis on Nutrition. He previously worked at Northside Intermediate School as a Health and PE teacher. He will be attending the Blackhawk Technical College Police Academy in August 2026.

Officer Catelyn M. Malinowski is from Beloit, WI. She graduated from Parkview Senior High School and earned her associate degree in Criminal Justice from Blackhawk Technical College in 2025. Officer Malinowski is a lateral transfer who began her career in law enforcement as a Community Service Officer in 2023 and moved to Patrol Officer in 2024, bringing 2 years of experience to the Janesville Police Department.

Officer James T. Mann is originally from Grand Forks, ND before moving to Illinois. He graduated from Red River High School. He was a member of the North Dakota Army National Guard from 2007-2014. He completed the Peace Officer Training Program at Lake Region State College in 2009 and the Criminal Justice Program at Rasmussen College in 2016. Officer Mann is a lateral transfer who has worked as a Military Police Officer, a Deputy for a County Sheriff’s Office, and most recently a Patrol Sergeant, bringing 14 years of experience to the Janesville Police Department.

Officer Garrett T. Rieger is from Fort Atkinson, WI. He graduated from Fort Atkinson High School and attended UW-Whitewater. He has been a member of the US Army National Guard since 2019. He has previously worked for the Whitewater Fire Department, Mercy Health Systems, Superior Ambulance Services, and Ryan Brothers Ambulance Services in Madison, WI. He will be attending the Blackhawk Technical College Police Academy in August 2026.

This individual is wanted for questioning in connection with several retail thefts in Janesville. Thefts reported in just the past few days are over $1,200 (Class I Felony) in losses to the companies.
