The Made in Alaska Program is proud to present AK Mountain Dog, our 2025 Manufacturer of the Year!

Governor Mike Dunleavy and Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development Commissioner Julie Sande presented Mountain Dog with the 2025 Manufacturer of the Year award yesterday at the company’s Palmer manufacturing facility.

Founded by Army veteran Kevin Thompson and Hannah Thompson, Mountain Dog manufactures premium freeze-dried dog and cat treats in Palmer using 100% wild-caught Alaska salmon. Its product line includes single-ingredient salmon treats, mini training treats and salmon toppers made without fillers or artificial additives.

The annual Manufacturer of the Year award recognizes a Made in Alaska permit holder that demonstrates excellence in overcoming obstacles, business growth, innovation, community leadership and collaboration with other Alaska businesses.

Congratulations, Kevin, Hannah, and team! We're proud to have Mountain Dog in the Made in Alaska program and wish you continued success!

Today, we honor the brave Americans and Koreans who fought to defend freedom on the Korean Peninsula. The Korean War was a pivotal moment in history that changed the course of the world. Because of the courage and sacrifice of those who answered the call, the Republic of Korea stands today as a thriving beacon of liberty and prosperity. Alaska will never forget our Korean War veterans or the enduring friendship between the United States and the Republic of Korea. Thank you for your service.

A third special session to provide tax relief so the Alaska LNG project can move forward is scheduled to begin today. Before reintroducing the legislation, my administration is going to continue meeting with all parties to determine the best path forward to an agreement. I believe that by having these discussions now we can come to an agreement on a bill that would get the support it needs to pass both bodies and get this vital project moving forward and conclude this special session quickly.

Governor Dunleavy holds a press conference from Juneau.

I appreciate the hard work the conference committee has put into this important legislation to provide property tax relief and advance the Alaska LNG pipeline to deliver gas for Alaskans. That work has brought us close to a bill that would serve the people of Alaska well.

However, including the S Corp tax provision introduced by the Senate raises serious concerns. By the conference committee’s own admission, this provision has not been adequately debated, tested, modeled, or analyzed.

The bill started as simple property tax relief and a straightforward volumetric tax as a replacement. The S Corp tax provision in the bill is neither simple nor straightforward and could have unintended consequences that destabilize the business environment in Alaska and negatively impact Alaskans.

If the legislature passes the bill in its current form, I will veto it.

We are close to having a bill that will help deliver natural gas for Alaskans.

To allow work to continue toward a positive outcome, I am calling a special session beginning July 27 in Juneau.

I will continue to collaborate with the legislature and look forward to signing legislation that helps move this project forward so we can provide a reliable source of energy for Alaskans for decades to come.

Alaska doesn’t only have a tremendous abundance of natural resources. We also have tremendously talented people working to develop breakthrough technologies to further unlock Alaska’s resource potential and reduce America’s dependence on China for mineral processing.

The U.S. National Science Foundation announced today that it will fund a major critical minerals project led by the University of Alaska Fairbanks.
