NPP is a nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting families and youth on Hawaiʻi Island with accessing the necessary tools and resources they need to thrive; to create a safe, stable, and nurturing community. We are striving to create a non-stigmatizing way to provide families with underage children a variety of resources & supports to address concrete needs such as, housing instability, skill building, developmentally appropriate parenting; while also offering opportunities for healing, growth, learning, and personal development.

If you had to leave quickly, would you know where your emergency kit is?

Having your essentials packed and ready means you can grab it and go when you need to.

Think water, food, medications, flashlights, batteries, important documents, first aid supplies, and anything else your household may need.

Keep your emergency supplies somewhere easy to find and easy to grab.

Your preparedness task this week: Find your emergency supplies or start putting your kit together. Then make sure everyone knows where it is.

We’re excited to introduce Staff Hour, a new segment of Community in Conversation where we sit down with the dedicated people who make up Neighborhood Place of Puna and get to know the stories, experiences, and motivations that bring them to this work.

For our first Staff Hour, Executive Director Billi-Jo sits down with Justice, NPP’s Community Services Program Coordinator, to talk story about her journey at NPP, from starting on the phone lines to working in unsheltered case management and now leading our drop-in centers and street outreach team.

Justice also shares why strong partnerships with organizations like HawaiiDiaperBank, Project Vision, and Hoʻōla Nā Pua make this work possible. 🤝

The timing couldn’t have been more perfect 🩵

A HUGE mahalo to Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition of Hawaii for donating diapers, wipes, and hygiene supplies to our Mobile Family Resource Center (MFRC)!

Since Hurricane Lala, we’ve seen more families and individuals reaching out for support, and this donation couldn’t have come at a better time.

These essential supplies will go straight to families in our community, helping us keep our MFRC stocked and ready to show up where the need is greatest.

Last week, NPP’s Mobile Family Resource Center team had the opportunity to work with our wonderful community partners at Kurtistown Samoan English SDA Church, offering support and resources to families in need following the devastating impact of Hurricane Lala.

Together with our dedicated partners, we were all able to serve more than 260 families and over 661 individuals!
