Duplin County Senior Services is proud to celebrate the first Pressure Wise graduation, a collaborative initiative with the Duplin Coalition for Health. Participants gained valuable insights and skills to better manage their blood pressure and made notable improvements in their health.

We were thrilled to acknowledge their progress and dedication at the graduation ceremony.

Interested in joining the next class this fall? Please call the senior center at 910-296-2140 to reserve a spot. Priority will be given to individuals with high blood pressure.

We extend our gratitude to the course leaders: Emily Smith, MSN, RN - ECU Health Duplin Hospital for "Know your numbers" and "Check it often, check it right"; Rachel Ezzell, Extension Agent, Family and Consumer Sciences - N.C. Cooperative Extension, Duplin County Center for "Eat smart, slow down on salt" and "Eat smart, the Mediterranean way"; MaKayla Parker, MSN, RN - ECU Health Duplin Hospital for "Move more" and "Keep calm and sleep well"; Paula Johnston, MHA, BA, RPFT, RCP, Manager of Respiratory and Sleep Services - ECU Health Duplin Hospital for "Live to***co free"; and Mollie Rouse, PharmD, BCPS/Pharmacy Supervisor - ECU Health Duplin Hospital for "Manage your blood pressure medications".

The program was coordinated by Maury Castillo, MHA, Health Educator III & Duplin Coalition for Health Coordinator, Rachel Ezzell, Extension Agent, Family and Consumer Sciences - N.C. Cooperative Extension, Duplin County Center, and Eve Stroud, Community Health Improvement Coordinator - ECU Health Duplin Hospital with support from volunteer Debbie Best.

This morning, we had a great breakfast meeting with the Director, which was well-attended by the senior group, with ages spanning 63 to 93. We engaged in a variety of conversations and enjoyed several options, including avocado toast. Some of the key words for today are: love, unity, present, blessed, grateful, thankful, boom, family, faithful, happy, and dogs.
