Make sure your vote counts!

In order to vote in the October 6, 2026 Borough election, you must be registered to vote at a residence address in the Ketchikan Gateway Borough not less than 30 days prior to the election, which is September 6, 2026. Likewise, in order to vote the City of Ketchikan ballot, you must be registered to vote at a residence address in the City of Ketchikan by September 6, 2026.

Update 3:20 PM: No communications or power interrupted. Cleanup may take until 9 p.m.

Ketchikan Alerts: A tree has fallen across South Tongass Highway at Mile 5. The road is currently closed. A detour is in place through Roosevelt. KPU is on scene working to restore power lines and clear the roadway. Restoration of power lines and road clearance are expected to take approximately 2–3 hours.

Ketchikan Gateway Borough offers free use of Borough-owned parks with an approved park use permit. There are no fees, and the process is quick and easy.

Simply submit the Title 12 Park Use Permit to [email protected]. Once approved, you'll receive a signed permit confirming your reservation.

Airport Ferry Update ⛴️

Both airport ferries will be back in service on Monday, July 27th, 2026!

The Summer 2026 Ferry Schedule is in effect through September 18. A second ferry operates Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., providing service every 15 minutes.

The Youth Vote Ambassador (YVA) Program is designed to spark the interest of young people in the political process and in their rights and responsibilities as citizens.

These students provide assistance to Ketchikan voters by serving as election workers. Qualified applicants must be a high school student in good standing and at least 16 years old, be willing to attend training, and have written permission from a parent or guardian. Interested students and/or their parents or guardians are encouraged to contact the Borough Clerk’s Office for additional information.
