We offer our deepest condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Officer Brian Liles of the California Highway Patrol. A Line of Duty Death is an incomparable loss to everyone who serves in this profession. May he rest in peace, and may his loved ones find the support they need.

It is with profound sadness that the California Highway Patrol announces the line-of-duty death of Officer Brian Liles of the Visalia Area.

On September 28, 2026, at approximately 5:11 p.m., CHP Motorcycle Officer Liles was involved in an on-duty traffic crash on State Route 99, just north of State Route 190 in Tipton. He sustained critical injuries and, despite lifesaving efforts, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Officer Liles, 44, served the people of California for more than 16 years. After graduating from the CHP Academy in 2010, he was assigned to the San Jose Area and later served in the Hayward and Fresno Areas before transferring to the Visalia Area in 2019.

Officer Liles is survived by his wife, two children, his parents, and two sisters.

The CHP extends its deepest condolences to Officer Liles’ family, friends, loved ones, and all who served alongside him. His dedication to public service and commitment to protecting the people of California will not be forgotten.

From the NWS, At 5:30 PM, heavy rain continues across the Laughlin and Golden Valley areas with rainfall observations of 1 to 1.5 inches falling in the past 30 to 45 minutes. These storms will develop into the Kingman metro momentarily.

A Flash Flood Watch has been issued for Mohave County from Monday morning through Tuesday evening. Hazards include heavy rain, dangerous lightning, roadway rockslides, and roadway flooding.

NEVER attempt to cross a flooded roadway.
🚨TURN AROUND, DON'T DROWN🚨

Tropical moisture will usher into the region today, bringing chances of showers and thunderstorms to the Desert Southwest today through Tuesday. Primary hazards include frequent lightning, heavy rainfall, gusty winds, and flash flooding. Cannot rule out small hail. Greatest chances of flash flooding will be across Mohave County, southern Clark County, and the Colorado River Valley.

Sergeant Gonzalez and K9 Ace were recently welcomed back to K-9 Services in Albuquerque, NM for updated training in tracking, narcotics, and handler protection.

K9 Ace graduated from this academy approximately two years ago and with the help of K-9 Services and their staff, they’ve maintained Ace’s skills to better serve his community.

HOMICIDE ARREST- KINGMAN

Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Detectives have arrested John Dee Page Jr., 46 of Kingman, for 1st Degree Murder in connection with the 2016 homicide investigation of 22-year-old victim Matthew Johnson.

On December 14, 2016, Deputies responded to a call of a weapons offense where a male victim had been shot. Upon arrival, Deputies began life-saving measures until the victim was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. Detectives were called to the scene to collect and process evidence and interview potential witnesses.

An autopsy revealed the cause of death of the victim was multiple gunshot wounds. The investigation continued; however, Detectives were unable to find sufficient evidence to support an arrest at the time.

Over time, evidence from the crime scene was resubmitted and subjects re-interviewed by Detectives and our Special Investigation Unit regarding the homicide. Through the course of the investigation, John Page Jr. was identified as the suspect in this incident and a felony arrest warrant was issued.

Page was contacted by Detectives and arrested on Tuesday (9/22) for 1st Degree Murder and booked into the Mohave County Adult Detention Facility in Kingman without incident. This investigation is ongoing.
