Additional Charge Added in Fatal Hit and Run Investigation
As the investigation into the fatal hit-and-run crash involving an electric scooter continued, detectives with the Lake Charles Police Department (LCPD) obtained additional evidence that resulted in an additional charge against 33-year-old Garrin N. Solari of Lake Charles.
On Wednesday, July 22, 2026, Solari was served with an arrest warrant at the Calcasieu Correctional Center charging him with one count of Vehicular Homicide. Judge Tony Fazzio set an additional bond of $250,000 for the new charge.
On Friday, July 17, 2026, at approximately 12:23 a.m., LCPD officers responded to the area of Red Davis McCollister Road, west of South Park Road, in reference to a crash involving an electric scooter. The crash resulted in the death of a 16-year-old male.
On Monday, July 20, 2026, members of the LCPD Traffic Division, Patrol Division, and Detective Division arrested Solari in connection with the fatal hit-and-run crash.
During the investigation, officers located Solari's vehicle at his residence and seized it as evidence. Investigators also determined that Solari allegedly attempted to conceal and destroy evidence related to the crash.
Solari is currently booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center on the following charges:
Vehicular Homicide (1 count)
Felony Hit and Run
Obstruction of Justice
Judge Tony Fazzio initially set Solari's bond at $465,000. With the additional Vehicular Homicide charge, his total bond is now $715,000.
