STEELMAN LIBRARY MISSION STATEMENT

The Steelman Library supports the mission of Southeastern University by providing services that equip the University community for research, learning, and spiritual growth. The library actively advances learning by evaluating, acquiring, organizing, and delivering information resources in multiple formats, including digital resources; by providing individual an

d group instruction in information literacy; and by collaborating with faculty, both to support their own research and to partner in the student learning experience. Vision Statement
Steelman Library performs the central role of creating added value to information for the academic community by providing information resources and services. The Library creates a physical and virtual environment that fuels the pursuit of intellectual endeavors and the creation of new knowledge. The Library cultivates work and study environments that nurture cooperation, communication, and personal, professional, and spiritual growth. Values
Steelman Library faculty and staff have chosen the following values as reflective of our desires for library
services at Southeastern University. Because they are equally important to us, they are listed alphabetically. Campus collaboration--Faculty and staff seek opportunities across the University community for creative partnerships that will benefit our constituents. Christ-centered faculty and staff--Faculty and staff model Christ-like attitudes and behavior in every interaction. Resource provision and access--Faculty and staff procure resources that provide the best information value for our students and degree programs. Library resources are accessible to all constituents regardless of physical location or limitation. Intellectual freedom--Faculty and staff collect balanced views of controversial issues while maintaining our biblical foundation. Lifelong learning--Faculty and staff model an appreciation of the value of lifelong learning, and promote lifelong learning through interactions with students, alumni, faculty, and university staff. Learner-centered environment--Faculty and staff make decisions based upon their ultimate impact on the learner, making the physical and intellectual environment of the library welcoming and learning-focused. Professionalism--Faculty and staff interact with all constituents in a professional manner. Respect, fairness, transparency and integrity--Faculty and staff demonstrate respect, fairness, and integrity in all interactions. We are transparent in our decisions and dealings with others. Supportive service--Faculty and staff go above and beyond the "usual" in an effort to serve our constituents. The library affirms its mission, vision, and values by focusing on these critical processes:
