Today, on National Gun Violence Awareness Day, we honor the children, families, and communities impacted by gun violence and recommit to creating safer environments for every child in Michigan.

Gun violence is one of the leading causes of death for children in the United States. Prevention starts with all of us: safe storage, open conversations, community support, and ensuring kids always have safe adults they can turn to.

In Michigan, families now have access to a new statewide Gun Lock Distribution Map from Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. The map shows more than 150 locations where residents can pick up free cable-style gun locks, including MDHHS county offices, local health departments, MSP posts, and other community partners.

To find a free gun lock near you — or request locks for your organization — visit the MDHHS Secure Storage Law webpage:

June is National Internet Safety Month. Keeping kids safe online starts with simple, everyday conversations.

Talking with children about internet safety helps them know what’s okay to share and how to speak up if something doesn’t feel right.

At Children Trust Michigan, we’re committed to helping families build safe, supportive environments both offline and online. Together, we can create digital spaces where kids feel protected, confident and empowered.

Keep talking. Keep checking in. Keep kids safe.

For helpful tips on talking with kids about online safety, visit the Michigan State Police’s Internet Safety for Parents page: https://www.michigan.gov/msp/services/safetytips/internet-safety-for-parents.

The prevention services that Children Trust Michigan and our local partners provide makes a real and lasting difference for families! Here’s what one parent shared after receiving support from our partners at Lakeshore Children's Advocacy Center:

“I feel a better connection with my daughter. I have more patience when dealing with issues. I feel lighter.”

That sense of lightness is at the heart of CTM’s mission. When caregivers have tools, support, and hope, daily challenges feel more manageable—and families grow stronger together.

We’re proud to partner with organizations across Michigan that empower caregivers, strengthen families, and help build safer, healthier communities for children.

The 24th Annual Pam Posthumus Signature Auction was a great success! We are grateful to everyone who participated. Your support helps Michigan children grow up safe, strong, and supported.

Thanks to your generosity, we raised nearly $700,000. These funds go directly to child abuse prevention programs in every Michigan county, strengthening families and building hope.

We can’t wait to see you again next year!

We’re proud to highlight the incredible impact happening through Child and Family Charities and their Nurse Family Partnership (NFP) program.

Recently, one father joined NFP through a referral from another department. With support, coaching and consistent encouragement, he moved from supervised visits to unsupervised time with his child — a meaningful step toward stability and reunification.

The NFP team walked alongside him as he embraced his role as a parent, showing how collaboration across programs can strengthen families and create lasting change.

Stories like this remind us why partnership matters. When organizations work together, families grow stronger, children thrive and communities become more resilient.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month.

At Children Trust Michigan, we know that mental health conditions are medical conditions deserving of compassion, understanding, and support. Supporting children means supporting the mental and emotional well‑being of the adults who care for them. When caregivers have access to community, resources, and early support, families grow stronger and children thrive.

This month, remember:
• You are not alone; every caregiver needs support
• Small moments of connection make a big difference
• Asking for help is an act of care, not weakness

If you or someone you know needs support, call or text 988 or visit FindSupport.gov.
