As we gear up for Sunstar's September Food Drive, several team members recently volunteered at Hope Villages in Clearwater to get a behind-the-scenes look at how their food pantry serves our community.
Food insecurity continues to affect many families, especially as we head into the fall season. This year, we're challenging ourselves to double our impact through our annual food drive.
Donation barrels will be available throughout September, and we'll be sharing more details soon. Thank you for helping us support our neighbors in need! ❤️🥫

On the morning of April 8th, our crews were dispatched to a call no one ever wants to run – a five-month-old in cardiac arrest.

There are certain calls in our careers where everything we train for is suddenly put into action. You rely on your training, the people beside you, and trust that every person involved will do their part.

That morning, they did.

Our 911 crews immediately went to work alongside Dunedin Fire Rescue, providing seamless care in one of the most difficult situations we can encounter. A supervisor stepped in to support the crews when they needed it most. Our Communications Supervisor thought ahead and alerted our Critical Care Transport team to what was unfolding. Without being asked, our CCT team staged at the receiving hospital, ready for whatever came next — ultimately stepping into the emergency department to assist with continued care and transport the patient to a higher level of care.

Every link in the chain mattered. Every link was executed.

And just three days later, that five-month-old patient was discharged home to his family.

On August 10th, we had the privilege of joining Dunedin Fire Rescue at Dunedin City Hall to recognize the incredible individuals who made up that chain of care as recipients of the Dr. Handtevy Save Award.

In partnership with our local public safety partners, Sunstar Paramedics was honored to participate in the Pinellas County Schools Annual Administrative Safety Day on July 29th.

Together, we had the privilege of training over 350 school administrators in the American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR program, helping equip the leaders of our schools with lifesaving skills that can make a difference when every second counts.

In addition to CPR, participants received education on recognizing the signs of an opioid overdose, the importance of early intervention, and the lifesaving benefits of having Naloxone readily available.

We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with Pinellas County Schools and support the dedicated administrators who work every day to educate our students and help keep our schools safe.

A special thank you to our outstanding instructor partners from Pinellas Park Fire Rescue, Lealman Fire District, and Palm Harbor Fire Rescue. Your teamwork and commitment to community education helped make this event a tremendous success!

🚑💙 Going Above and Beyond for Patient Care 💙🚑

Please join us in recognizing three outstanding members of the Sunstar Paramedics team who demonstrated exceptional dedication to giving their patient the best possible chance for a positive outcome.

When responding to a patient experiencing signs of a stroke, every minute matters. One of the most critical pieces of information is the time the symptoms began, as it helps determine the most appropriate and definitive treatment.

Paramedic Aaron Pearce, EMT Alyssa Rambo-Panko, and Paramedic Adam Lane responded to a residence where the patient had not been seen for an extended period. After recognizing the signs of a possible stroke, the crew knew they needed to establish the patient's time of onset. Rather than accepting the unknown, they went above and beyond—knocking on neighbors' doors and windows to gather information that could make a significant difference in the patient's care.

🏆 On July 16, 2026, HCA Florida Largo Hospital recognized this crew for their outstanding efforts and commitment to providing exceptional patient care.

👏 Congratulations and thank you to Paramedic Aaron Pearce, EMT Alyssa Rambo-Panko, and Paramedic Adam Lane for your professionalism, compassion, and determination. We are proud of the care you provide—not only on this call, but every day.

We are proud to announce that Sunstar Paramedics has earned Advanced Perinatal Ready Recognition!

This achievement reflects years of dedication, collaboration, education, and a shared commitment to improving emergency care for pregnant, postpartum, and newborn patients.

After identifying gaps in maternal and neonatal emergency preparedness, our Clinical Education Department made a deliberate commitment to strengthening readiness through hands-on training, high-fidelity simulation, quality improvement, and collaboration with our hospital and community partners.

This recognition reflects the collective efforts of our clinicians, educators, quality and leadership teams, the Office of the Medical Director, and our valued healthcare partners.

We are incredibly proud of this achievement and remain committed to advancing maternal and newborn emergency preparedness and ensuring our clinicians are ready when these critical moments occur.

🚑 This past weekend, Sunstar Paramedics was honored to attend the John Morroni Legacy Foundation Awards Ceremony, which recognizes the outstanding work performed every day by first responders and public safety professionals throughout Pinellas County.

🏆 Congratulations to Sunstar Paramedics Field Operations Supervisor James Marshall, who was recently recognized by the John Morroni Legacy Foundation for his actions during a critical incident involving an individual experiencing a mental health crisis.

👏 Faced with a highly unpredictable situation, Jim remained calm, established trust, and successfully de-escalated the encounter, helping ensure that no one was harmed. What began with uncertainty and raised hands ended with compassion and an embrace.

Through empathy, professionalism, and genuine human connection, Jim and other Sunstar Paramedics personnel helped a person in crisis receive the care and support they needed.

🏛️ This recognition reflects the very legacy of service and leadership represented by John Morroni, whose name is honored on the Pinellas County Emergency Medical Service and Fire Administration Building.

Over the last week, Sunstar Paramedics had the privilege of hosting two ambulance tours for the Arc Tampa Bay Foundation.

The Arc Tampa Bay has spent more than 60 years supporting and empowering individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities through residential services, vocational training, day programs, ABA therapy, and advocacy efforts that promote inclusion and independence throughout our community.

These tours provided an opportunity to help bridge the gap between emergency medical services and the individuals we serve. By exploring the ambulance, meeting our crews, and learning what to expect when EMS arrives, participants were able to become more comfortable with both the environment and the people who may respond during an emergency.

Following the tours, we had the opportunity to enjoy refreshments, fellowship, and conversation together. These moments allowed us to build meaningful connections beyond the ambulance and learn more about the incredible individuals and staff who make The Arc Tampa Bay such a special organization.

Yesterday, Safety & Risk Coordinator Mike Dvorack and Clinical Manager Shelby Papa had the privilege of teaching three lifesaving skills to members of Bankers Insurance Group in Downtown St. Petersburg.

🩹 Bleeding Control Techniques

These simple but critical skills empower community members to take action during emergencies and help save lives before first responders arrive.
