The Tabor Opera House Preservation Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to revitalizing Leadville's historic Tabor Opera House.

High in the Colorado Rockies stands the Tabor Opera House, where you can still sense spirit of the Silver Rush. Set in Leadville, Colorado, the highest-elevation city in North America, the Tabor Opera House hosts world-class performances and tours each summer. In 2019, this remnant of the wild West—deemed a National Treasure by the National Trust for Historic Preservation—celebrated its 140th anniversary. Yet the decades have taken a toll on the Tabor, named one of Colorado’s Endangered Places, by Colorado Preservation, Inc. Today, a spirited effort is underway to revitalize this historic opera house and create a center for diverse arts and culture in the heart of Leadville.

Help the Tabor become a year-round cultural center in Leadville! 🎭

Next week we kick off our end-of-year fundraising season, and we need $140,000 by 12/31 to sustain annual operations and keep the programs you love going.

For 147 years, the Tabor has anchored Harrison Avenue. This season we welcomed over 7,000 visitors (and counting), our highest attendance in decades, with six months of events and tours, youth workshops, and ongoing historic preservation. Rural Colorado is hungry for arts and culture, and this “hidden gem” is helping more people discover it.

Earlier this month, Opera Colorado and Central City Opera brought their production of “Earth to Kenzie” to the Tabor stage for Lake County fourth graders! 🎭

It was a joy to host this special performance and share the magic of opera with our young audience. Thank you to our friends at Opera Colorado Central City Opera 🎶

Fundraising for the Tabor can look a lot like a party. 🥂

Two members of our Capital Campaign committee hosted a private fundraiser for friends and family visting. Guests got a behind-the-scenes tour of the Tabor and then gathered for cocktails at The Jolly Cork. It was a fun night, full of good company and new fans of this historic house.
