Today marks the last full-time shift for Chadd Gilliam after 10 years of dedicated service to our department. Over the years, Chadd has been a huge asset to the fire department, always willing to share his knowledge and lend a hand no matter the task. His experience, leadership, and ability to do just about anything have made a lasting impact on everyone he has worked with.

While today is his last day as a full-time firefighter, we are thankful that he will continue serving our department part-time as Battalion Chief.

We want to sincerely thank Chadd for everything he has done for this department and our community throughout the years. We wish him nothing but the best on his next journey and look forward to continuing to work alongside him.

Congratulations, Chadd, and thank you for your service!

🚨 Saturday afternoon, Districts 3 and 7 responded to an MVA on Interstate 40 where a vehicle had left the roadway and traveled approximately 100 feet down an embankment. Crews performed a successful rope rescue operation to safely remove the occupants, who were then transported to the landing zone for further medical care.

Rope operations are just one of the many specialized skills our volunteers train for and perform when our community needs us most.

🚒Another busy Saturday🔥 14 new volunteers training on pump operations, while Districts 6 and 11 responded to a tractor fire. Grateful for our new volunteers and the dedicated members already serving and protecting our communities. We’re proud to volunteer to help keep Henderson County safe.

🚒 🔥This week, we had the privilege of visiting every 2nd grade class in the county to share important fire and life safety lessons with our students! 🚒🔥

We talked about:
✅ The importance of working smoke alarms
✅ Knowing TWO ways out of every room
✅ “Get Low and Go” during a fire emergency

Community Risk Reduction is our number one goal, and we’re proud to partner with Lexington Utilities to help educate the next generation. Their team also taught students what to do if they smell natural gas and where our water comes from. 💧

It takes local partners working together to build a safer community, and we’re thankful for the opportunity to invest in our future leaders!

🚨Yesterday, Battalion Chief Chadd Gilliam, Firefighter Mitchell Wood and Firefighter Pam Floyd along with members of Henderson County EMS were honored with the Star of Life Award for their actions during a recent emergency response.

Originally dispatched to assist EMS with manpower for an unresponsive patient, the call quickly escalated when the patient went into cardiac arrest. Through rapid response, teamwork, and effective CPR, crews were able to regain a heartbeat before the patient was transported to Jackson General Hospital for further intervention.

This recognition reflects the dedication, professionalism, and commitment to serving others shown every day by our first responders. Congratulations to Battalion Chief Gilliam, Firefighter Wood anf Firefighter Floyd on this well deserved honor. 🚑🚒👏

Madison County Fire Department is currently on scene of a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 40 westbound at mile marker 92.6.

Motorists should expect significant traffic delays in the area. At this time, traffic has been reduced to one lane while emergency personnel work to manage the scene safely.

Crews are also in the process of offloading fuel from a tractor-trailer involved in the accident. This operation is necessary for safety but will extend the duration of the incident and traffic delays.

We ask that drivers slow down, remain alert, and use caution when traveling through this area. If possible, consider an alternate route to avoid delays.
