As National Nonprofit Day approaches, we’re taking a closer look at what your support has made possible during the first half of 2026.

Every donation, volunteer hour, and act of generosity helps provide meals, shelter, essential care, job training, community outreach, and opportunities for a fresh start.

A celebration of skills, growth, and what comes next!

Eight women recently celebrated the completion of the 10-week Dough Girl culinary program in partnership with the Anne Douglas Center for Women at the Los Angeles Mission.

Throughout the program, participants built hands-on culinary skills, from sanitation and food safety to knife skills, kitchen tools, and meal preparation, while also developing skills that support recovery, confidence, and rebuilding their lives.

Their Culinary Culmination brought everyone together for one final showcase, where the graduates put what they learned into action with an Italian-inspired Pasta Toss and shared the moment with the people who supported them along the way. 🍝

A special thank you to Dough Girl for partnering with us to invest in these women, share your expertise, and create opportunities for them to build skills they can carry into their next chapter.

Congratulations to all eight graduates! 💙

Supporting our neighbors also means supporting the pets they love. 🐾

At our recent Pet Wellness Event, we partnered with organizations like Dogs Matter, which supports pet owners in recovery by providing free, temporary foster care for their dogs while they seek inpatient treatment. By making sure their pets are safe and cared for, Dogs Matter helps owners focus on their recovery with the goal of reuniting them with their pets.

For those interested in learning more about their work, foster services, or volunteer opportunities, visit Dogs Matter’s page and follow the link in their bio. SoCal foster information is also available at dogsmatter2.org by selecting the SoCal program.

As Kelli Jacobson shares, the love our Skid Row neighbors have for their pets is undeniable. We’re grateful to work alongside partners who recognize that caring for people often means caring for the animals they love, too.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this day possible. Together, we’re helping our neighbors and their pets take the next step toward a brighter future. 💙

At the Los Angeles Mission, we believe caring for people means supporting them in more ways than one. Alongside providing meals, shelter, and long-term solutions, we’re honored to pray for those who entrust us with their prayer requests.

If you’d like our ministry team to pray for you, submit a prayer request through the link in our bio.

We often share the numbers that show the impact of your generosity. Meals served. Nights of shelter. Hope restored.

But sometimes, the greatest impact can’t be measured. It’s seen in a smile, heard in a simple “”thank you,”” and experienced in the moments that remind someone they’re not alone. 🤲

Every gift has the power to remind someone they are seen, valued, and cared for. Whether it’s making a donation, volunteering your time, or another act of kindness, every contribution helps make moments like these possible.

As Tyrone shares, one of the most meaningful parts of giving is seeing those smiles and knowing you’ve helped bring hope to someone who needed it most. Thank you for helping us make an impact that goes beyond the numbers.

Ready to help create more smiles? Visit the link in our bio to get involved.

Behind every fresh start are the people who make it possible. 💙

Thanks to the generosity, expertise, and collaboration of our incredible partners, essential restroom facilities across the Los Angeles Mission have been transformed, helping us provide cleaner, safer, and more reliable spaces for our neighbors.

Their work included:
• Approximately 30 new toilets
• 10 new urinals
• 30 new shower heads
• 30–40 high-efficiency faucets

These upgrades span all four floors on both the men’s and women’s sides of the Mission, providing durable, high-efficiency fixtures that will serve our community for years to come.

As Iggy Contreras shared, “”Our job is to protect the health of the nation.”” That commitment was reflected throughout this project as the International Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (IWSH) Foundation, manufacturers, contractors, local unions, and community partners came together to donate their time, expertise, and resources.

A heartfelt thank you to the International Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (IWSH) Foundation and every partner who made this project possible. Your generosity will make a lasting difference by helping us provide a healthier, more dignified environment for every neighbor we serve.

More than a pet wellness event. A day of care, connection, and community. 🐾💙

Thank you to everyone who helped make our Free Pet Wellness Day possible. Together with our incredible partners and volunteers, we provided free wellness exams, vaccines, flea treatments, pet food, supplies, and resources to help pets stay healthy and families stay supported.

Every wagging tail, every smiling face, and every conversation was a reminder of what we can accomplish when a community comes together to care for one another.

What if volunteering became something you looked forward to each month? 💛

There are more ways to volunteer at the Los Angeles Mission than you might realize. Whether you’re serving a meal, organizing donations, helping behind the scenes, or welcoming guests, every act of service makes a difference.

Every day, people turn to the Los Angeles Mission for meals, shelter, job training, compassionate care, and hope. If you can’t volunteer, your donation helps make that possible.

For generations, supporters like you have made this work possible. Learn more about volunteering or making a donation through the link in our bio.
