Check out what’s happening at our Animal Shelter!! Cathy and her team do a wonderful job taking care of these precious fur babies! It takes a village and the support of the community to make it a safe and functioning facility.

There’s a very exciting Volunteer run project happening at our shelter on Sunday!

The Luling Animal Welfare Society (LAWS) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping lost, abandoned, and homeless animals in the Luling community. Through adoptions, volunteer support, fundraising, and daily care, LAWS works tirelessly to give dogs and cats a second chance at finding loving homes. The organization was created to support the City of Luling Animal Shelter and has helped save hundreds of animals that may not have otherwise had that opportunity. (City of Luling)

Our All Paws on Deck for LAWS project is all about giving back to the people and animals who make this mission possible. By refreshing and revitalizing the shelter space, we hope to create a warmer, more welcoming environment for the dedicated staff, volunteers, and the animals waiting for their forever families.

We extend a special recognition and thanks to our Caldwell County ESD #5.

Thank you for responding to emergencies at all hours, often under difficult and stressful circumstances, while providing compassionate care to residents during some of the most challenging moments of their lives.

This morning at about 9:12 AM, the Luling Police Department received information that an individual had threatened his wife and claimed he might carry out a mass shooting at a local business here in Luling. Our officers responded immediately, and we were quickly joined by our partners from the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office, Precinct 2 Constable’s Office, Texas DPS, and the Guadalupe and Gonzales County Sheriff’s Offices.

Together, units secured the business, checked on employees and patrons, and searched the area for the suspect and his vehicle. He was not found at the location. Using information from the Flock Safety camera system, we learned the suspect had already left the city, traveling south on US 183. That information was shared with the Gonzales County Sheriff’s Office, who located the vehicle, pursued it, and safely took the suspect into custody.

I want to thank every agency that stepped in to help today. Their quick coordination and teamwork brought this situation to a safe conclusion.

Please know that the safety of our community remains our top priority, and we will continue working every day to keep Luling protected and informed.

On Sunday April 26, 2026, My Wife, Temi and I traveled to Austin for the Texas Peace Officer Memorial Ceremony, where I stood alongside many of my former Harris County Sheriff’s Office colleagues to honor three of our fallen Deputies. Two of them, Deputy Shaun Christopher Waters and Deputy Bryan Brad Sweetman, were men I had the honor of leading during my years as a District Patrol Captain. Standing in their memory last night was humbling but also a reminder that their legacy remains strong.

The HCSO Honor Guard, select Command Staff, and Dr. Don Savell joined us as we spent time with the surviving widows and family members, offering our support and reminding them that their loved ones will always be part of our family. The ceremony also recognized other fallen heroes from across Texas, including five historical honorees whose names were added to the wall.

It was a beautiful tribute on a difficult night. Moments like this should remind us all that the true measure of these men and women is found not in the circumstances of their passing, but in the lives they lived and the values they carried into every shift. As Chief of the Luling Police Department it is my prayer that circumstances never dictate that such an honor is bestowed upon a Luling Police Officer and their family.
