Inspired by the beloved novel Remarkably Bright Creatures, this multimedia presentation explores the real-life intelligence, mystery, and beauty of cephalopods—including the Giant Pacific Octopus of the Pacific Northwest. Through stunning photography, film clips, and firsthand stories from underwater filmmaker Annie Crawley (“Ocean Annie”), audiences will journey into the hidden world of cephalopods from Puget Sound to our world ocean. Discover how these remarkable animals solve problems, change color, escape impossible situations, and interact with humans in ways that challenge what we think we know about animal intelligence. This presentation reveals why octopuses have captivated scientists, storytellers, and readers alike—and why protecting their ocean home matters more than ever.
Annie Crawley, also known as Ocean Annie, is an award-winning filmmaker, underwater photographer, author, and ocean advocate. For more than 30 years, she has explored the world’s oceans with cameras in hand, documenting life beneath the surface to inspire global audiences.
