Strong communities are built by strong teams. We’re grateful for partners like Macon Water Authority and all of the work they do behind the scenes!

Meet the Team Behind Your Tap: Engineering

At Macon Water Authority, we're not just planning for today—we're planning for the future.

In many cases, our Engineering Department is designing and planning projects years, and sometimes decades, before they're needed. The water and wastewater infrastructure being designed today may serve not only you, but your children and even your grandchildren.

Every project begins with careful planning. Engineers evaluate future population growth, aging infrastructure, environmental regulations, and the community's long-term needs to help ensure reliable water and wastewater service for generations to come.

What does our Engineering Department do?

📐 Designs water and wastewater infrastructure

🚧 Manages capital improvement projects

💧 Plans system upgrades and expansions

📊 Evaluates future capacity and infrastructure needs

🤝 Coordinates with contractors, developers, and regulatory agencies

The work may happen behind the scenes, but its impact will be felt for decades.

Thank you to our Engineering team for helping build the future of water in our community.

Today, we honor the life and legacy of George Israel.

A former Mayor of Macon and a dedicated public servant, George’s leadership helped shape Macon’s community for decades. In addition to serving on the Macon-Bibb County Industrial Authority Board, he led organizations including the Macon Chamber of Commerce, the Macon Economic Development Commission, and the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, while also serving on the YKK Board of Directors.

We are grateful for his service, leadership, and lasting impact on Macon-Bibb. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
