Bibb K-12 teachers participated in summer professional learning hosted by our Teaching and Learning Department supporting ELA, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Music. The sessions this week helped prepare teachers instructionally for the upcoming school year.

Bibb County School District GEAR UP is hosting a STEM Camp for rising 8th and 9th grade students on July 6–10, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. each day at the Museum of Arts and Science.
Students will have the opportunity to explore engaging topics such as zoology, space, and CSI forensic science. Daily lunch and snacks will be provided. Families who are interested should register using the following link: https://tinyurl.com/3tffm3zr

Teachers have been preparing for summer opportunities for students in the Bibb County School District. In addition to other academic areas, our summer school students will have opportunities in art, dance, music, physical education, and Spanish. Students taking advantage of virtual courses in academic areas will also have the opportunity to experience music lessons created by Levita Carter. Ms. Carter is the music teacher at Bernd Elementary School, and she is the 2026 Georgia Music Educators Association District XI Music Teacher of the Year.

Congratulations Howard High School student Jaiden Geolingo for being awarded the Georgia Poet Laureate’s Prize last month, beating a field of 100 students who submitted poems for the award! • Geolingo’s winning poem was titled “Peach State Migration."

Through hard work, dedication, technical skill, and professionalism, Miss Dupree has earned the title of SkillsUSA National Champion in "Graphics Imaging Sublimation" representing our school, community, and state on the national stage.

This accomplishment is a testament to the commitment she and her instructors bring to Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education every day. Competing against the best students from across the nation, Aleshia demonstrated excellence and proved that Hutchings students can compete—and win—at the highest level.

Congratulations to Miss Dupree, her instructor(s), and everyone who supported this journey. We are incredibly proud of this outstanding achievement and look forward to seeing what the future holds!
