Day 6 and 7: Project Pollinate
In the kitchen, students cooked up something special with fresh garlic and okra straight from the harvest. Making delicious Okra Gumbo and Hot Water Cornbread from scratch! 🍲✨

Meanwhile in the classroom, the creativity kept buzzing as students continued building their custom bee homes to support our local pollinators! 🪵🐝

A huge thank you to Group Health Cooperative of South Central Wisconsin for funding the materials that make these incredible hands-on learning experiences possible! 💙

Day 5: Project Pollinate 🌸
Our students had an action packed day! After finalizing their project supply lists, they took learning out of the classroom and headed on a field trip to the hardware and lumber store. 🛠️

Students took charge of their learning navigating the aisles, reading their plans, and double-checking their inventory to ensure they had every single material needed to start building. It was incredible watching them apply real-world planning, math, and problem-solving skills in action!

Stay tuned to see these raw materials transform into something amazing for our local pollinators! 🪵🔨🐝

Day 4: Project Pollinate
Today, our students rolled up their sleeves with Rooted to start constructing a Kenyan Top Bar Bee Hive! To tie the day together, they headed into the kitchen to cook up an incredible meal, Sukuma Wiki (a delicious traditional Kenyan braised collards dish). 🥬

Back in the classroom, students continued their research, finding sources, and created a detailed plan for their projects.

A huge thank you to our Adopt-a-School partner, Group Health Cooperative of South Central Wisconsin for generously funding the purchase of the materials to make Project Pollinate possible! We couldn't do this without you!

Day Three: Project Pollinate
Today students harvested the potatoes they planted earlier this year and made Southern Potatoe Salad with Rooted.

Back in the classroom, the research officially began📚. Students started planning out their custom projects focused on creating Bee habitats and creating Bee food sources.

💡Fun Fact: Native bees are picky eaters! They co-evolved to only pollinate specific native wildflowers and plants. Honey bees, on the other hand, aren't exclusive at all, they'll pollinate a massive variety of flowers! 🐝 🌻

Day two: Project Pollinate
Today, our students partnered with Rooted to look closer at the garden. They learned the difference between perfect and imperfect flowers, then headed inside to bake fresh zucchini muffins and cook up summer succotash!

We also learned the differences between Native and Honey Bees, and our students started brainstorming their own custom resources to help our local bees thrive. 🛠️💡

💥 Fun Fact: Did you know there are over 4,000 species of native bees in North America?!
