Welcome, Mishelle, our new CASA Case Coordinator! 🎉💙

Mishelle brings a strong background in trauma-informed support and child abuse education. Most recently, she presented at the Annual Association of Professionals Solving the Abuse of Children - APSAC Colloquium on how medical child abuse affects non-offending family members.

New to Wisconsin, Mishelle has been enjoying the beautiful summer weather! Her experience, compassion, and dedication to supporting children and families make her a wonderful addition to the CASA of Dane & Columbia Counties team.

Trying something new can feel a little scary, especially when you don’t know what to expect.

Take a child-friendly look inside Oasis, from checking in at the front desk to meeting a therapist and seeing the spaces where therapy takes place. Each space offers opportunities for play, art, movement and conversation.

At Oasis, children are given the time, choices and support they need to feel safe and heard - one visit at a time. 💙

Being a CASA volunteer means showing up for kids during some of the hardest moments in their lives. That work is meaningful, but it can also be a lot to carry. 💙

Our Advocate Support Groups give active CASA volunteers a space to talk through cases, share challenges, learn from one another, and connect with people who understand the work.

This month's groups will be held on:

📍 Wednesday, September 16 from 1-2PM at Canopy Center
💻 Thursday, September 24 from 6-7PM via Zoom

When children return home, it's an important milestone - but for many families, the need for support doesn't end there. 💙

For one recently reunited family, assistance from the Joseph Martin Nunn Family Support & Reunification Fund helped cover some of the expenses that come with rebuilding a household.

We’re grateful for resources like this that allow us to meet families where they are and support them as they move forward together.

The first day of school is here - and one of the playhouses from our Playhouses for a Purpose fundraiser is ready to welcome students at Franklin Elementary School in Madison! 🏡💙

Built by Advanced Building Corporation, this playhouse was donated to Franklin by raffle winner Kennedy Turner! We loved seeing these playhouses come to life during our fundraiser, but getting to see where they end up is even better.

We hope all students have a wonderful first day and a school year filled with learning, imagination and fun!

Mad Hatter’s Bingo is coming to Winery on Thursday, September 17!
Every round brings a chance to win $100 cash! Plus, chances to win with raffle baskets featuring items from Kendra Scott , Vortex Optics , The Green Stem Florals and Gifts , and more! Food, wine, and goodies from DeWitt Street Nutrition and Crestwood Cheesecakes will also be available. 🍰

A look back at our Media Open House 💙

We recently welcomed supporters to Canopy Center for a behind-the-scenes look at the spaces, programs and people helping children and families heal.

The day also marked a $152,000 multi-year investment from Dean Health Plan by Medica that will help expand family-centered care through our Oasis Mental Health Clinic.

From trauma-informed therapy spaces designed with children in mind to conversations about how we can better support the caregivers alongside them, there was so much to share.
