Happy Thursday! It’s been a big week filled with so many great moments. One of the highest compliments I receive from people is, "Ann, we see you everywhere!", and honestly, that is the best part of my job: getting out into the community, meeting everyone, and listening to your stories.
All three of my interns are heading back to school soon. I asked them which classes they were most excited about, and their answers were unanimous: they’re looking forward to the classes taught by passionate, enthusiastic professors. Amid all the chaos coming out of Washington, it’s easy to forget just how vital and transformative education really is. Learning never stops, and I’m inspired every day by the passionate people in our own community. When we champion and invest in education, we give our future generations the tools to truly excel.
Looking ahead to the weekend, Rotary Patio has entertainment tonight! I’m heading to Footville, so I might not make it back in time, but I hope many of you you make it to the Farmer’s Market this weekend.
Also, please don't forget to vote! You can still vote early in person tomorrow at City Hall or in person on Tuesday, so make sure you have everything in order to do your part. As always, thank you for the privilege of serving this community.

Happy Thursday!
It was a busy week filled with good conversations. The best part of this job is the constant opportunity to learn and listen, which is my personal anti-aging strategy to keep the brain sharp!
This week, Representative Brown, Senator Spreitzer, and I met with FEMA, the Small Business Administration team, Wisconsin Emergency Management, and Rock County Emergency Management to discuss recovery strategies and action plans. They are super impressive teams who reiterated how vital it is to hear everyone's personal stories surrounding these disasters.
During our meetings, FEMA shared a few crucial updates for our community. First, when FEMA sends out status letters, even if your letter says you are rejected, please do not throw it away. It often just means there is a missing piece of information needed or that they are waiting on insurance details, so be sure to read it carefully. Additionally, FEMA will attempt to call you three times before coming to inspect damage in person. These calls usually show up as an unknown number, so please make sure you are checking your voicemails regularly.
Looking ahead to the rest of the week, tonight I am heading to Rotary Gardens for music and sandwiches. On Friday, I will be attending the fair, and since it looks like it might rain, remember to grab an umbrella. I also hope to see many of you at the Farmers Market this weekend. Take care!

Happy Thursday from the backyard with a special helper!

A question I get a lot is what we are doing when we are not in session, especially during a break as long as this one. Right now, we are focused on FEMA and getting the word out about available resources. I posted the details for these resources last week so please check those out! There are important deadlines approaching, and we want to make sure everyone is getting the support they deserve. Township applications are due July 30th, and individual applications are due at the end of August.

Next week is Rock County Fair week, which always brings lots of fun. I will definitely see you all there!

On a heavier note, there is currently a high demand for outside development, but we have to understand the necessity of prioritizing local funding first. That is what our community needs the most right now.

Don’t be afraid to send me your questions, that is exactly why I am here. Stay in the light, I hope to see your faces soon, and I hope you enjoyed our crow friend making a vocal appearance in the video!

Happy Thursday, everyone! What an odd day it is with all of the smoke that has blown in! Please stay inside if you can, check in on your friends and neighbors, and keep those directly impacted by the fires in your thoughts.
Speaking of hazards, FEMA has given the green light for funding, and our incredible Rock County Emergency Management team completed 600 damage reports to help us hit the ground running! If you were impacted by the recent tornadoes, floods, or hail, a disaster recovery center is now open to help you navigate your claims in person at 1717 Center Ave in Janesville, open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Please move quickly and act now to get your assistance applications in, as the first major deadline is coming up fast on July 30th!
As usual, I hope to see your faces at the farmers market and downtown celebrating Christmas in July with our small businesses as those are truly some of my favorite places to be. Stay in the light, keep having the important conversations, and as always, thank you for your time.

It has been a packed but incredibly rewarding week in Rock County and Janesville!

Our communities are powered by incredible volunteers and local leaders who work hard every single day to move us forward like our town board members. This week they discussed the impact of new data centers to local clean-up projects. Something I noticed in these conversations were people practicing grace, listening to one another, and proving just how far we can go when we treat each other with respect.

On Tuesday, we focused heavily on agriculture with a visit to the Rebout family farm to discuss the unique challenges our local farmers are facing and the creative workarounds they are using to push through.

Later in the week fascinating tour of the Janesville Seneca plant, where it was amazing to learn about the generations of local families who have built their careers there. I also had the opportunity to observe ALERT training—an active killer response program spearheaded annually by our very own Janesville first responders.

To wrap things up, I monitored the exciting progress of the new children’s museum in downtown Janesville, which is going to be an incredible, accessible space for every child.

This week reinforced why local control and funding our smaller communities is absolutely vital. Our country is built on states, and our states are built on these small, tight-knit communities. When we don't take the time to support them, that neglect trickles down, which is why we must give our local governments the tools they need to thrive. Looking ahead, we’ve got a great weekend with the Farmers Market and Shakespeare at the Historical Society. Whichever way you choose to spend your weekend, stay safe, have good conversations, and stay in the light!
