Illinois’ done it. So have Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, and Missouri. Even Iowa allows some! 💚 Yet again, Wisconsin Democrats have introduced a bill to legalize both medical AND recreational ma*****na.

"Legalization is about freedom, the freedom of adults to make up their own mind, to make their own choice," Rep. Andrew Hysell (D - Sun Prairie) told WKOW.

The Democratic bill proposes legalizing recreational ma*****na for adults over 21 and medical ma*****na for anyone over 18 OR minors with parental consent.

The plan would raise nearly $300 million/year AND help farmers!

"Cannabis legalization can create thousands of new jobs, keep production in Wisconsin, and ensure this industry is built by Wisconsin farmers and businesses," Phillip Scott, the founder and president of Wisconsin H**p Farmers and Manufacturers Association, told WKOW.

From the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources:

"The DNR will be updating the Wisconsin State Park System's Strategic Plan in 2026. The Wisconsin State Park System recently celebrated its 125th anniversary and contains approximately 125 unique properties. These properties offer a wide variety of opportunities for outdoor recreation and the enjoyment of Wisconsin’s vast natural resources.

The updated plan will summarize the system’s existing conditions, identify issues and opportunities, and develop a management strategy and direction for the next 10-years."

Find the link to the survey under PUBLIC INPUT OPPORTUNITIES. The DNR will accept public comments via the survey until 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2026.

There are only a few days left to share your feedback and contribute to the Wisconsin State Park System’s updated strategic plan.

Complete the online survey by Aug. 4 to help us identify issues and opportunities for Wisconsin’s state parks, forests, recreation areas and trails over the next 10 years.

If you need the survey provided in a different format, please send us a direct message here on Facebook.

Find more information on the strategic plan update, including a link to the online input survey and a copy of the most recent plan, on our website: dnr.wisconsin.gov/topic/parks/strategicplan

This week, Midwest Environmental Advocates joined the Bad River Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and environmental groups in filing a new lawsuit to prevent the construction of the Line 5 reroute.

This legal action stems from a judge’s finding that Enbridge was not eligible for permits to do work at four Ashland County stream crossings because it did not own the affected properties.

Enbridge sought a workaround by changing its permit applications and acquiring property interests at three of the four crossing locations while apparently granting the original landowners options to repurchase their properties. We argue that those property transactions amount to short-term leases of riparian rights, something that is not allowed under Wisconsin law.

The new lawsuit is separate from our broader Line 5 legal challenge, which remains pending in Bayfield County Circuit Court.

A clean, healthy environment and climate is essential to everyone's health and happiness. But nature is a vital and irreplaceable good, in itself. We must draw on science and good evidence, including indigenous methods/practices, to put Wisconsin back on the right path.

I am very proud to receive a 100% score and award from Wisconsin Conservation Voters for my work this session, along with fellow legislators who share these values. I look forward to walking that path together.

Legalizing recreational cannabis *must* be a top priority next session: as a health issue, a justice issue, and as an important way to raise revenue for public goods and services.

Two out of every three Wisconsinites support legalizing recreational cannabis. It's time for the Legislature to listen. Every year, Wisconsinites cross state lines to buy legal cannabis, sending tax dollars to Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, and other neighboring states instead of investing them here at home. While our neighbors generate hundreds of millions of dollars in cannabis tax revenue, Wisconsin gets nothing. That's revenue that could support our communities, strengthen local businesses, and create new opportunities for Wisconsin farmers.

Wisconsin Senate Democrats have a plan to keep those dollars here at home. It's time to move Wisconsin forward.
