Reminder to all! We will not have story time next Friday, October 23rd, because Malvern will not be having school. The week after, on October 30th, we WILL be having our Trick or Treat event! To attend, you MUST be signed up with us, and we are currently full and have a waiting list if any spots open up. We cannot take any extra people the day of the event, for which we apologize. If you want to check if you're on the sign-up sheet or would like to be put on the waiting list, please call us at the library or see us inside. Thank you!

Today at the Malvern Branch Library we had a pajama day and read stories by flashlight! The kids got to learn about nocturnal creatures like the racoon and go on a hunt with flashlights for nocturnal and sleeping critters in the library! For their craft the kids made their own racoon masks and had a lot of fun pretending to be racoons!

What’s on Your Thanksgiving Table? Discover the Stories Behind the Foods We Love.

Take a closer look at the foods that make Thanksgiving special in this educational program exploring the origins, history, and traditions behind classic holiday dishes. Participants will learn how favorite Thanksgiving foods have evolved over time, along with insights into current food trends and modern farming practices that bring these seasonal staples from the field to the table today. Today we had our first Lego Club of October! This week, the kids got to make their own creations with no predetermined theme! We had junkyards, farms, planes, and more! It was super cool to see what all the kids came up with. Our next Lego Club will be October 28th from 4-5pm. It is open to PreK-5th grade, and children 8 and under MUST be accompanied by an adult. We would love to see you here and see what you can create!

Today at the Malvern Branch Library we learned about fire safety! Our special guest Ellie Secrest is a firefighter and EMT from Dellroy Fire Department! She brought in her equipment and protective gear to show the children and to teach them all about fire safety. One of the many things she taught us today was if you are ever in a fire, please don't hide or be afraid of the firefighters when they enter a structure. Firefighters are there to help rescue people and get them safely out of the fire. The kids had a lot of fun making a firefighter craft with important safety rules like Stop, Drop and Roll. They also got to build and eat their cookie fire engine snack! Thank you so much to Ellie Secrest and the Dellroy Fire Department for teaching us all about fire safety! 👩‍🚒🚒🔥

Today at the Malvern Branch Library we learned about chickens! Our friends the Tuckers brought in their hen Mama Brown and her chicks for the kids to meet and pet, and Rachel Tucker taught us some fun facts about chickens! For our craft we made our own paper plate chickens, and our snack was chicken feed; popcorn, pretzels, and candy corn! The kids had a lot of fun meeting Mama Brown and learning about these feathery friends. Thank you so much to the Tucker family for bringing in Mama Brown and her chicks today!

On Wednesday we had our Cosmic Adventure event at the Malvern Branch Library! We had delicious cupcakes, cool crafts, fun games, and awesome prizes to win! The kids made doorknob hangers, kaleidoscopes, and rockets that could blast off! Everyone had a lot of fun, and we hope to see you all for future events at the library!

This past Thursday we hosted another Art Club Day! Led by our Miss Sharon, the kids got to paint and decorate their own wooden pumpkins to welcome in the fall season! They had a lot of fun and made some beautiful pumpkins. Our next Art Club will be November 5th, 4-5pm, and we will be making Thankful Wreaths and Potpourri! We only have so many seats open, so if you are interested please call or come to the library to sign up. It is open to children K-5th grade, and children 8 and under MUST have an adult with them! We can't wait for next month's event!
