To finish of our 2026 Summer Reading Program, yesterday at the library we held our awards party! We gave out awards for independent readers, reading challenges, minutes read, programs attended, and a special prize to our participant that checked the most books out over the summer! To finish off the program, we ate pizza donated once again by the amazing EOG Resources, as well as ice cream! Thank you all so much for a wonderful summer, and we can't wait until next year! Going into fall, schedules for Lego club and Story Time are both available at the library, and the fall Teen Club Schedule will be released soon! Thank you all again!!! And thank you so much EOG Resources for donating the pizza for the entire summer!!!!

Today at the Malvern Library we had our last regular Summer Reading Program! We learned about Cavemen, and used clay to make stones, bones, and teeth that we strung on necklaces like cavemen! We also played a super fun game of Caveman Bingo!! This was our last regular program for the summer, and we're sad to see the season go by so quickly. HOWEVER, there are still TWO MORE DAYS before the Summer Reading Program is completely over! Tomorrow, July 23rd, we will be hosting our Summer Reading Awards, and on Friday, July 24th, we will have Leftover Day as a last chance to make any crafts you missed throughout the summer. We can't wait to see you there!!!

Today at the Malvern Branch Library we had a special guest reader! As announced yesterday, Eddie Schweikert read his original book, The Diary of Billybob the Basketball, to the kids! After reading we enjoyed crafts like sand art and cavemen drawings, and we snacked on 'Billybob the Basketball' cheeseballs! It was a super fun day, and we can't believe there are only a few days left in the summer program. Thank you so much Eddie for reading your amazing book for us today, and we can't wait to see what you do in the future!!!

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT! Tomorrow at the Malvern Branch Library we will be hosting special guest reader Eddie Schweikert! Eddie is our Miss Judy's grandson and is currently visiting from Georgia with his family! He has written his own book titled "The Diary of Billybob the Basketball" and will be reading it for the kids at tomorrow's 10:30 program. He's very excited to read to everyone and we can't wait to host him!!!

Today at the Malvern Branch Library we went on an Archeologist Adventure! During story time, kids learned about the different tombs that have been discovered across the world from different cultures. Together we made treasure maps as our craft, drawing islands, mountains, rivers, and the classic X marking the spot! For our activities, kids crawled between red 'lasers' like a ninja and jumped from rock to rock to avoid the snake pit like Indiana Jones! We munched on delicious gummy worms as our snack for the day. Only one more week of Summer Reading Adventures left!!!

Today at the Malvern Branch Library we went panning for gems! Special guest reader Heidi Lewis read to the kids, and then we went outside for the main event- the sluice! Built and run by guest Mr. Neal, the kids used the sluice to rinse through pans of sand to find gems and small treasures that they got to identify and keep! We also did crafts such as suncatchers and scratch-off art. The kids had a lot of fun with the sluice and the hands-on activities today. Thank you Heidi Lewis for reading to us today, thank you Mr. Neal for bringing in and running the sluice, and thank you to Sheckler Excavating Inc for donating the sand and gems for the activity!!!

Today at the Malvern Branch Library we learned about geodes! Guest Reader Sandy Gahan read to the kids, and then we began our crafty experiment! Using pipe cleaners, boiling water, borax, and a bit of food coloring, the kids started the process of making their own geodes! Now we wait patiently to see how they all turned out. After the craft we dined on pizza donated by EOG Resources. Thank you Sandy Gahan for taking the time to come and read, and thank you EOG Resources for your continued support of the program and donations for the kids!!!

Today at the Malvern Library we had Sunken Shipwreck Story Time! Special guests Mr and Mrs White read stories to the kids about deep sea creatures, shipwrecks, and sunken treasures. For their craft, the kids got to design their own treasure chests, and even got to dig up trinkets to store inside of them! We enjoyed goldfish crackers and gummy sharks as our snack. Thank you so much Mr and Mrs White for taking the time to read for us today!

Today we had Shipwreck Lego Day! The kids used their big imaginations to make builds inspired by the ocean and shipwrecks. at the end they got to display and talk about their creations to the entire group. Everyone had a lot of fun! Thank you SO MUCH to the Power family for buying all the kids slushies!!!

Today at the Malvern Library we had Water Day! We made pool-noodle megalodons to race against one another, ran through a dinosaur sprinkler, bounced water balloons up in the air, and had a lot of fun! Everyone got soaking wet, including a few of the library ladies! The kids got to relax afterward with pizza donated by EOG Resources. Thank you, EOG!
