Maintenance Custodian - Under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor performs a variety of maintenance and custodial activities including inspections, preventative maintenance, minor electrical and plumbing repairs, minor HVAC maintenance and repairs, grounds maintenance, snow removal, painting and related projects. Also performs the full range of custodial duties in the assigned area.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

Under the direction and supervision of the County Administrator (s), the Public Defender serves as the attorney of record of all indigent adults in criminal cases ensuring that Benzie/Manistee County meets all constitutional and legislative requirements as they pertain to the representation of indigent adult offenders. The Public Defender is responsible for development, implementation, oversight and direction of the Public Defender Office and the indigent defense private counsel conflict/overflow list. This includes staffing, training supervising, counseling, disciplining the office, and maintaining full compliance of the State of Michigan/LARA requirements.

This is a full-time, benefited position that requires frequent travel throughout Manistee and Benzie County. The position will be open until filled and the start date of the position is contingent on the continuance of funding.

This message is to inform you that Manistee County has officially declared a Local State of Emergency due to the excessive rain runoff impacting the Bear Creek Watershed and the Big Manistee Watershed. This declaration was signed by Manistee County Board Chair Jeff Dontz in coordination with Emergency Manager Alvin Rischel. All our State Elected Officials have been notified of this situation and declaration.

Current conditions have created significant strain on local infrastructure, drainage systems, and water levels throughout the affected areas. This declaration enables us to request additional resources and support to assist the Manistee County Road Commission and/or local units in managing response and mitigation efforts.

We will continue to monitor the situation closely and will provide updates as more information becomes available. Please report any local impacts, resource needs, or emerging concerns to the Manistee County Emergency Management Office or the Manistee County Road Commission as they arise.
