At the October 6th Board of Supervisors meeting, Tim Jensen, Flood Control Division Manager, and Michelle Cordis, Maintenance Division Manager, joined our Director, Warren Lai, for a presentation about how Public Works is preparing for the coming storm season and what residents can do to prepare. As we do each fall, Public Works has been preparing for the rainy season by clearing storm drains, catch basins, and roadside ditches, stocking our sandbag stations, training staff, reviewing response procedures, sending out media communications, and coordinating with the County’s Office of Emergency Services. The sandbag stations are now open for residents in unincorporated areas of the county who are concerned about flooding or erosion on their property. Public Works will be working on the Robert I. Schroder Pedestrian Bridge (Bridge) Rehabilitation project, located over Treat Boulevard, today, Monday, Oct. 5, through Thursday, December 31, 2026.

Work hours: 9 p.m.–5 a.m., Sunday–Thursday
Drivers: Expect delays of up to 10 minutes and occasional lane closures on Treat Boulevard.
Trail users: The bridge will be closed for approximately 3–4 months. Iron Horse Trail users will be detoured to the existing street crossing at Treat Boulevard. Follow posted detour signs.

Work is weather permitting and excludes holidays.

Public Works will begin work on the Robert I. Schroder Pedestrian Bridge (Bridge) Rehabilitation project on Monday, 10/5 -Thursday, 12/31/26, from 9:00 p.m. - 5:00 a.m., Sunday through Thursday, excluding holidays. Drivers can expect 10-minute delays on Treat Boulevard during construction with occasional lane closures.

The Bridge will be closed for the duration of the project. Pedestrian and bicycle users on the Iron Horse Trail will be redirected to the existing street crossing on Treat Boulevard for approximately 3-4 months while the bridge is closed for repairs. Detour signs will guide users around the construction.
