Public Works will perform road traffic safety improvements at four sites along Deer Valley Road between Empire Mine Road and Marsh Creek Road, from Tuesday, September 8, 2026, through Friday, November 20, 2026. Work will occur from 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Traffic control will be used at each site with restrictions in place to minimize impacts during commuting hours. Drivers should expect delays through the work zones and consider alternative routes during working hours.

Public Works will repair erosion along Pinole Creek between Henry Avenue and I-80 starting Monday, 8/31 - Friday, 10/23/26, between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday (excluding holidays).

Traffic control will be used at Henry Avenue and along the Pinole Creek Trail near the construction area. Impacts on drivers will be minimal. Pinole Creek Trail will be closed to users near the construction area from Henry Avenue to I-80.

Public Works Transportation Engineering team has completed a comprehensive corridor safety study for the portion of Vasco Road between Marsh Creek Road / California State Route 4 and the southern boundary of Contra Costa and Alameda Counties. This study addresses critical safety, traffic, and environmental concerns and outlines priority improvement projects for future funding.

The team received input from Vasco Road users and community members through an online survey and held three (3) community workshops with the Office of Supervisor Diane Burgis. These outreach efforts resulted in the Vasco Road Corridor Safety Improvement Study Final Report, which is available for review and feedback through Tuesday, 9/15/26.

Public Works will begin construction of the Countywide Guardrail Upgrades Phase II project on Monday, August 24, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Work will take place in Walnut Creek, Alamo, Danville, Pleasant Hill, Rodeo, El Sobrante, East Richmond Heights, San Pablo, and Lafayette. The project will install upgrades to existing guardrails and end treatments at multiple locations throughout the county's unincorporated areas. Public Works, in partnership with Davidon Homes and its contractors, DeSilva Gates and MCH, has completed the installation of a new traffic signal at the intersection of Mt. Diablo Scenic Boulevard and Diablo Road/Blackhawk Road. The traffic signal was activated and fully operational on Tuesday, August 11, 2026.

This new traffic signal replaced the existing three-way stop signs. The signal project also added a dedicated right turn lane at the T-intersection for southbound Mt. Diablo Scenic Boulevard onto westbound Diablo Road to improve traffic flow. These improvements were jointly funded by Davidon Homes (as mitigation for its Magee Preserve development), the Town of Danville (traffic mitigation funds), and the County (Local Road Funds – Gas Tax).
