As EMS Week comes to a close, we want to take a moment to recognize what this week is truly about — the people behind the uniforms.
EMS is more than ambulances and emergency calls. It’s long nights, missed holidays, interrupted family dinners, difficult scenes, and continuing to show up for complete strangers on some of their worst days. It’s sacrifice, compassion, strength, and service — even when life outside the job is heavy too.
This week also reminds us that EMS affects entire families. The spouses, children, parents, and loved ones who support those in this field quietly carry part of this job with us every day.
To every EMT, paramedic, dispatcher, paid staff member, volunteer, healthcare partner, and supporter — thank you. What you do matters more than words can fully explain.
We would also like to sincerely thank the businesses and organizations who helped support MVEU during EMS Week:
• Massena Walmart
• Massena Price Chopper
• Hardys Kitchen & Bake Co.
• The Bakery
• Massena Tim Hortons
• BJs
• Italian Affair
• Everyone who donated during Loot in the Boot
-Massena Hospital ER
-E5
A special thank you as well to:
• Massena Public Library for inviting us to Story Time and allowing us to show the kids our ambulance
• Massena High School for welcoming us to set up a recruitment table
• Massena Moose Lodge and Massena Little League for the generous donation of chicken dinners
This job cannot be done alone, and the support from our community never goes unnoticed.
From all of us at MVEU — thank you for supporting EMS and the people behind it.
Happy EMS Week.
