Update: The traffic signal in front of McCordsville Elementary School at 600 West/Windsor Drive is operational. Please take note of this new signal and drive safe!
๐จ Reminder: Tomorrow is the First Day of School! ๐๐
Tomorrow marks the start of a new school year, and we want to remind everyone to slow down, leave a little earlier than usual, and be patient as students, parents, and school buses return to the roads.
Our officers will be out in full force throughout the community, working hard to keep our kids, families, and streets safe. You can do your part by remembering these important back-to-school safety tips:
๐ Stop for school buses when the stop arm is extended and the red lights are flashing. The few moments you wait could save a child's life.
๐ธ Slow down in school zones and obey the posted speed limits.
๐ต Put the phone down. Distracted driving is one of the biggest dangers around schools. Keep your eyes on the road.
๐ถ Watch for pedestrians and bicyclists. Children may be excited, distracted, or unfamiliar with traffic patterns.
โฐ Leave a few minutes early. Extra traffic is expected during the first few days of school, and giving yourself additional time helps reduce stress and keeps everyone safer.
Let's all work together to make the first day, and every school day, a safe one for our students, teachers, parents, and bus drivers.
