Reminder to the Mescalero community: three contractors are working in Mescalero—J and H, General Hydronics, and Mesa Verde. The J and H contractor is replacing fire hydrants around the hospital area; the Mesa Verde contractor is installing a new main waterline in the Gallerito area; and the General Hydronics contractor is working on the sewer line on Sage Avenue. Please watch for heavy equipment, follow road signs, and slow down.

Update on Nogal Road. The road is passable; the Roads Crew has made it accessible for residents to get home, but please be careful. Nogal residents will not have water tonight. The flood damaged the water line, and we’ll need to fix it in the morning. It created a large ditch, which poses a safety hazard for the Roads and Utilities crew because of the limited light. Sorry for the inconvenience, but the Roads and Utilities crew will be out first thing in the morning to repair the road and the water line.

The utility crew is working after hours on a water break near Highway 70. Water has now been restored to the residence. We had to wait for the power company and MATI to provide line locations before we could start excavation. Thank you for your patience as we restored water service.

🚨 REMINDER: Planned Water Outage Tomorrow (Sept. 16) 🚨
Water service to the Hospital area will be temporarily interrupted beginning at 8:00 a.m. tomorrow as part of the Mescalero Main Community Water System Improvements Project. The outage may last 8 hours.
If you are in an affected area, please plan ahead and store water as needed.

A road closure on A Little Drive will be in effect from Thursday, September 17, 2026, through Friday, September 18, 2026, while crews perform open-cut work to install a protective steel casing for a new water line. Please slow down, follow all posted signage, stay out of active excavation zones, and use caution around open trenches. For questions, contact the Mescalero Utilities Department at (575) 464-0254.

A new fire hydrant has been installed in Piñon Acres and is now complete. Utility workers are turning on the water and will begin bleeding the lines. It will take about an hour for everyone to get water back up and running. Thank you for being so patient.
