Thanks to all the mothers out there for all their love and support! Please remember that older adults are at greatest risk in the event of a fire at home. Show Mom some love: If she needs a hand installing, testing, maintaining, or replacing her alarms, offer to lend a hand.

The Middleton Fire Department recently took delivery of our new KME pumper. This apparatus, which was ordered nearly four years ago, will replace our 2002 engine and represents a significant investment in the safety and capabilities of our department.

We anticipate placing the new engine into service in the coming weeks following final preparations and training.

We are grateful to the residents of Middleton for their continued support in making this important purchase possible.

Members of the Middleton, Topsfield, and Boxford Fire and Police Departments, along with the Essex County Sheriff’s Department, participated in active shooter training earlier today at Masconomet Regional High School.

These realistic training exercises are essential to keeping public safety personnel prepared and proficient in the critical skills needed to respond effectively to these unfortunate incidents. Ongoing collaboration and training like this help ensure a coordinated, professional response when it matters most.

Overloading extension cords and power strips can cause a fire at home. Limit their use, and never plug one into another. If you have to use an extension cord outside, be sure it's rated for outdoor use and keep it away from water, snow, and ice. And always plug heavy appliances like air conditioners and space heaters directly into a wall outlet -- not a power strip or extension cord: https://www.mass.gov/info-details/electrical-fire-safety

Thank you for everything you do behind the scenes. Your hard work and dedication do not go unnoticed and make a real difference in helping us do our jobs more efficiently.

📞✨ It’s National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week! ✨📞

Today marks the start of National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, a time dedicated to recognizing the incredible men and women behind the headset, the voices you hear on the other end of 911.

Every day, our telecommunicators are the first first responders. They are the calm in chaos, the steady voice in someone’s worst moment, and the critical link between the public and emergency services.

They don’t just answer calls, they:
🚓 Coordinate police, fire, and EMS response
🚑 Provide life-saving instructions before help arrives
🔥 Manage multiple emergencies at once
💬 Support callers through fear, confusion, and crisis

All of this… often without ever being seen.

This week is about more than recognition, it’s about understanding the impact of what they do. Every call matters. Every second counts. And every voice on the other end of that line is making a difference.

💛 Join us this week as we celebrate the dedication, professionalism, and compassion of our team.

Because when you call for help…
they are already there.
