Yesterday, the Middletown Police Department was once again proud to join our partners from across Delaware law enforcement at the MOT Little League Challenger Programโ€™s Police Night at Silver Lake Park. โšพ๐Ÿ‘ฎ

Our officers had the privilege of serving as โ€œbuddies,โ€ spending the evening alongside Challenger players, offering encouragement, sharing a lot of hive-fives, building connections, and overall sharing in the joy of the game. Events like this highlight what community policing is all about: showing up, building relationships, and supporting one another.

Thank you to the MOT Little League Challenger Program for the invitation and for the incredible work you do. Weโ€™re grateful to be part of such a meaningful and inspiring evening.

Special thank you to Sam Smith Photography for these awesome photos!

On March 31, 2026, the Middletown Police Department responded to the area of Ashland Street in the Millbranch community, in reference to a shots fired complaint. It was determined that during the evening hours, an unknown suspect fired a weapon near a crowded park. As a result, numerous subjects fled and a three-vehicle collision occurred on Ashland Street shortly after. Through the course of this investigation, numerous leads were investigated and suspects developed.

On April 24, 2026, as a result of these investigative leads, a search warrant was executed at the residence of Asante Morris from Middletown, Delaware with the assistance of Delaware State Police SORT and the Delaware State University Police Department. Morris was taken into custody on an unrelated warrant issued by the Delaware State University Police Department at that time. Following a search of his residence, Morris was charged with additional offenses which included:

Possession of a Firearm/Ammunition by a Person Prohibited (2 counts)
Manufacturing an Untraceable Firearm
Possession of Ma*****na under 21
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Reckless Driving
Driving at an Unreasonable Speed
Leaving the Scene of a Collision (2 counts)

Morris was arraigned on the new charges issued by the Middletown Police Department and his active Delaware State University Police Department warrant via Justice of the Peace Court Number 2. He was issued a $74,302 cash bail and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution after failing to post bond.

The incident from March 31, 2026 continues to be investigated. If you have any additional information, please contact Det. Adam Starrett at 302-696-2574 or via email at [email protected] You may remain anonymous.

On April 23, 2026, the Middletown Police Department responded to the ChristianaCare Middletown Emergency Department for the report of a suspicious person.

Responding officers contacted the individual, identified as 22-year-old Prince Onukogu of Piscataway, NJ after hospital constables observed him on surveillance video getting into and then sitting in the rear seat of a female patientโ€™s vehicle.

Further investigation revealed that Onukogu had allegedly followed the adult female victim, a stranger to him, from New Jersey and recorded her at multiple locations without her knowledge. Investigators determined he then followed the victim to the Middletown Emergency Department, where he entered the rear of her vehicle and concealed himself while she was inside receiving medical treatment.

Onukogu was taken into custody without incident and charged with:
โ€ข Burglary 3rd Degree
โ€ข Stalking

Onukogu was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and issued $5,000 cash bail. Unable to post bail, he was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution.
