Librarians....always involved in the heroics of fraught times. Sending our love and support to the knowledge keepers of Ukraine.

Every year, library representatives from around Wisconsin come to Madison for Library Legislative Day. They meet with their region's legislators to discuss how libraries are serving their communities and let them know of upcoming programs or needs. This year MCFLS Director Steve Heser met with several state law makers, and received a certificate of commendation from Governor Evers.

In addition, Milwaukee County's own Nyama Reed, who is also president of the Wisconsin Library Association, gave an interview on WPR to discuss the roles libraries play in our communities and our state.

There's a lot going on at Hales Corners Public Library!

The large children's area has kid-sized bins and shelves to make it easy to find their own books. Kids can meet Dash, the library's turtle mascot – and search for Shelly, Dash's stuffed animal turtle friend. If they find Shelly (who is hidden in the children's area), they can bring her up to the desk to win a prize!

Check out all the weekly and monthly activities offered too, from Story Time and a Lego club for the kids, to an adult craft night, and bingo and trivia nights. Homebound delivery service is offered for those in the community who cannot come to the library.

There are multiple computer work stations and individual study rooms with free wifi.

While you're there, extend your visit with a stroll around the outside, where you'll find an area of original Wisconsin prairie and the historic Ben Hunt cabin (the cabin is open to the public the 1st Saturday of the month, from May-November).

At the top of the grand staircase in the Milwaukee Public Library Central Branch, you'll find an art gallery which hosts a selection of paintings on loan from the Milwaukee Art Museum’s permanent collection. The exhibit features a selection of works of Milwaukee Scenes.

We'd also be remiss if we didn't point out that the entire building is a spectacular work of art, from the carved squares under the staircases, to mosaics on the entryway floors, to the dizzying heights of the rotunda.

As a resident of Milwaukee County, this is YOUR building! You should definitely come and check it out (and some books too 😉).

Brown Deer Public Library launched their own Tiny Art Show at the beginning of January. They provided the small canvases and a small amount of paint, and asked patrons to create something. This program has been a huge hit, with some of the art already being sold!

The library plans to offer this again in the future -- so stop by to check out the art show, and get inspired to join in on the next one!

I don't have a library card, and I signed up for a temporary digital card online yesterday. I tried signing into Hoopla, but it wouldn't let me in. Will it work with a temporary digital card? Thanks!!
Nice work with the Libby app! Very easy to use, great interface, and a great e-reader too.
