Incident Video Release: Oakdale IC

At approximately 07:45am on August 30th, 2026 Modesto Fire Department Engines 3, 7, 5, 9, 11, Truck 5, Battalion 1, Stanislaus Consolidated Engine 21 and Battalion 2 were dispatched to a working residential apartment building fire on the 2300 block of Oakdale Rd.

Engine 3 arrived to find fire from 2 apartments with flames extending to additional residences. Crews initiated fire attack with multiple handlines and ventilation to stop the spread of fire. The incident progressed to a 3rd alarm (approximately 50 Firefighters), crews were committed for 4 hours for suppression, overhaul and occupant assistance.

The fire is currently under investigation by the Stanislaus Regional Fire Investigation Unit. Approximately 23 adults, 6 children and numerous pets were directly affected by the incident.

At approximately 7:47am. today, Modesto Fire Department and Stanislaus Consolidated Fire District firefighters responded to a working structure fire at an apartment complex in the 2300 block of Oakdale Road.
 
Modesto Engine 3 arrived first and found smoke and flames coming from a first-floor apartment, with fire extending into the walls and attic of the two-story building.
 
Due to the size and complexity of the fire, a second and third alarm were called, bringing additional engines, a quint, Rescue 28, trucks, and battalion chiefs to the scene.
 
Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the building. Six apartments sustained fire, smoke, and/or water damage, while a total of 16 apartments affected by the loss of electricity.
 
Twenty-three adults, six children, and multiple pets were affected by the incident. The American Red Cross responded to assist residents, and Modesto Fire Department, in partnership with Modesto City Fire Fighters Association Local 1289 and the California Fire Foundation, provided SAVE cards to some residents to assist with immediate housing and material needs like clothes and hygiene products.
 
There were no injuries to residents or firefighters. Tragically, one cat died in the fire. The estimated property loss is approximately $1 million. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Stanislaus Regional Fire Investigation Unit.

Incident Video Release: On August 18th Engine 3, Engine 5, Engine 1, Engine 21, Engine 9, Engine 7, Truck 5, Truck 1, Medic 1, BC3 and BC1 responded to a working commercial structure fire in the 900 block of Coffee Road. Engine 3 arrived to find a one-story business with smoke and fire showing from the building. Crews operated in the offensive mode containing the fire to the front of the building. The fire is currently under investigation.

Attached is our upcoming Explorer recruitment for Post 911. The orientation will be the only time applications will be handed out this year. If you cannot be there, please have someone come on your behalf. Attendance is required at the orientation to continue in the Fire Explorer recruitment. Explorer age range is from 16 years old to 21 years old.

Engine 6 was out practicing hose evolutions when a family stopped by while teaching their kids how to ride a bike.

The kids got a chance to flow some water, and a few even rode their bikes through the water to cool off.

We love getting to connect with our community — even when it happens in the middle of training.

It’s been a busy weekend.

Since early Friday morning, firefighters from Modesto Fire Department, Turlock Fire Department, and Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Protection District have been busy answering the call.

From vegetation fires and structure fires to a vehicle accidents, our crews have been working together across our communities through our shared boundary-drop agreement, which sends the closest available firefighters to emergencies regardless of jurisdiction.

And while the calls continue at home, firefighters from all three departments are also deployed outside our area, assisting with wildfires in Oregon and the Timber Fire in Monterey County.

It’s been a busy few days — and our firefighters continue to show up, work together, and take care of our communities.
