Week 2 of Summer Reading is completed for Monett Library, and boy, was it a “smashin”, “crashin”, magical dino-tastic time!

Before we stomp into another dino-mite week, please note that Monett Library will be closed Friday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth.

Then join us on Saturday, June 20, at 10:00 a.m. for a pair of roaring good activities!

Dads & Dinos Story Time
Bring Dad, Grandpa, Uncle, or another special grown-up and enjoy dinosaur stories, songs, and fun.

Dino Diamond Art
Think you're too old for Story Time? That’s okay, join us in the Community Room at the same time and create your own sparkling dinosaur masterpiece with diamond art.

Whether you're a little dinosaur enthusiast or a seasoned fossil hunter, there's something for everyone at Monett Library this week. We can't wait to see you there!

Coming up, another busy week of "Dino Magic" shows, with performances in SW Missouri, SE Missouri, and Kansas. I need to talk to the person who plans my route--oh yeah, that's me! Hope to see you at one of the shows!

We had an incredible time celebrating the start of summer and kicking off the Monett Library Summer Reading Challenge at the Monett Area Farmers Market!
Our talented teens painted the Dino Inspired Pokémon featured in our scavenger hunt, families planted lots of seeds, and thanks to our amazing Monett Friends of the Library, we were able to give away a special dinosaur-themed basket. Thank you to everyone who stopped by and helped make the event such a success!

As we head into Week 2 of Summer Reading, we have another exciting lineup of programs planned:

Tuesday, June 9 at 1:00 p.m. Unearth the Magic with The Reading Magician Join us at the Monett Performing Arts Center, 1650 E. Cleveland Avenue, for a magical afternoon of fun and reading. This program is open to all ages.

Wednesday, June 10 Smash! Crash! A Dino Bash! Get ready for the ultimate dino duel with Mario Kart races and Smash Bro brawls! This program is intended for students in grades 6–12. Space is limited, registration is required, if interested please contact Monett Library for additional details.

Thursday, June 11 at 10:00 a.m. Unearth More Magic with the Fishin’ Magician The magic continues at the Monett Performing Arts Center, 1650 E. Cleveland Avenue. This family-friendly event is open to all ages.

Thursday, June 11 from 5:00–6:00 p.m. Where Will the Frisco Passenger Train Drop You? Join us at the Monett Historical Society and Museum, 422 E. Broadway Street, for a fascinating look at the communities that eventually became what we know today as Monett. Billings, Plymouth, Plymouth Junction, Von Gonton, how did these places come together to form our city? Come find out! This program is intended for adults ages 18 and older.

Tomorrow kicks off our End of School Year & Summer Reading Book Sale! Stop by and browse a wide variety of books for just $1 each, $3 per bag, or $5 per box. You can also purchase a Friends of the Library canvas bag and fill it for a $10 donation!

Doors will open at 8:30 a.m. both days and will be open until 5:30 p.m. on Friday and end early at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday

Feel free to bring your own bag or box, as our supplies are limited; just make sure you can carry out all of your newly discovered treasures!

This weekend will also be your last chance to purchase tickets for an opportunity to win the beautiful crocheted dinosaur blanket! Don’t miss out on this cozy, one-of-a-kind prize! The winner will be announced and contacted on Saturday after the closing of the book sale.

Monett Friends of the Library Needs Your Help!

We've started our Spring Cleaning 2026 Book Drive and are collecting your gently loved books to prepare for our End of School Year Book Sale!

Join us for our next Book Drive Drop-Off Day

⏰ 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Bring your gently used books and help support your local library while giving your books a second life! If you can’t make one of our drop-off days, that’s okay; books can also be brought to the library front desk during regular library hours.

PLUS: Saturday May 02 also marks the first drawing for our Summer Reading Fundraiser!
We’re giving away three handmade dinosaur-themed items—fun, unique, and perfect for all ages!
