🚨 UPDATE 6:35PM: ROADWAY REOPENED 🚨

Hwy 142 and Old Broughton Road are back OPEN! 🙌

Please continue to use caution while traveling through the area, as utility and emergency crews may still be working nearby.

⚡ Power should be restored shortly to any remaining affected areas, if it hasn’t been already.

A huge thank you to all of the emergency personnel, utility crews, and everyone else who worked to get this incident contained, the roadway cleared, and power restored. We also appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation while crews were working! 💛

🚨 MISSING PERSON🚨
Jerome Adams, 60 yro male from Eatonton, GA, was last seen on Greer Road near Hwy 11 S. on Monday, July 20th, 2026 around 0830AM. He abandoned his vehicle in the roadway on Greer Road and we believe he has gone into the woods. He may be suffering from a mental health episode and is lost in the area.

Please help us on Congratulating our newest Firefighters! The following personnel have been devoting countless hours taking a Firefighter 1 class for the past several months. Today, the showed up, passed their skills testing and the written test. To them, we say Thank You for stepping up to serve our community and making a difference.

Those that have completed the class are: Joshua Mobley, Aaron Holcombe, Michael Wilson, Cain Bentley, Crystal Holcombe and Kaylee Ward.

Special thanks to D/E AEMT Fire Inspector Alex Sims for instructing the class and growing our department.

Thanks to the members of surrounding county Fire Departments that gave up a Saturday to make the testing possible.

Yesterday evening, Jasper County Fire Rescue responded to a commercial structure fire at the old GP plant. Crews arrived on scene and quickly contained the fire. Thanks to hard work and dedication of our personnel.
