Montvale Volunteer Fire Department Welcome to the Official page of The Montvale Volunteer Fire Department. We have been serving the Borough of Montvale since 1924.

It is the dedication of the men and women of the Montvale Fire Department along with the support of the governing body, that they have rendered this service to protect the community from fire and disasters. One of the few municipal bargains still available. The volunteer fire department is more than the sum of its parts. You can add up the fire house, the vehicles, uniforms, and life saving equipm

ent; all of this represents a sizeable investment on the part of the residents of Montvale. But it is the volunteers, fellow residents who give of their time, energies, skill and expertise that afford the borough protection at all hours of the day and night in all kinds of weather. Without this spirit of community service there would be no fire department, and Montvale would be all the poorer.

On August 13th at approx 4:30pm the Montvale Volunteer Fire Department responded to a commercial building in town for a worker who fell from a roof onto the roof of an adjacent building. With the assistance of Park Ridge Volunteer Fire Department, members removed the patient from the roof using a stokes basket and Tower Ladder M5. The patient was then taken by Tri-Boro Volunteer Ambulance Corps and Valley Hospital ALS to a waiting Hackensack UMC helicopter. Thank you to the Woodcliff Lake Fire Department for handling the landing zone for us.

The Montvale Fire Department had an eventful evening/night yesterday. From 5:10pm to 11:47pm we responded to 12 calls for service.

We started with a mutual aid request to our brothers at Park Ridge Volunteer Fire Department. The other 11 calls were in Montvale involving trees/wires, lightning strikes to home/property, generators causing carbon monoxide activations and activated fire alarms.

Our department is 100% volunteer and here to serve you 24/7/365. We are always looking for eager individuals who enjoy no pay, eating cold dinners and waking up in the middle of the night! All joking aside, we have a great group of members who are a small family and we welcome you to join us. Stop by the firehouse at 8pm to meet the firefighters and get more information! Montvale residency not required.

On Thursday, June 25th, the Montvale Volunteer Fire Department was part of the Decon Task Force for the Ecuador vs. Germany World Cup game at MetLife stadium. We were on standby for approximately 7 hours at Carlstadt Fire Department Engine Company 3 in case of an emergency at MetLife Stadium. Fortunately, there were no incidents. Thank you to our members who volunteered their time to stand by.

On Saturday, June 6th at 7:28pm the Montvale Fire Department was dispatched to a 3 car motor vehicle accident with rollover on West Grand Ave and DePiero Drive. Police arrived on scene and confirmed the rollover and a party trapped in the vehicle. Montvale Fire Department responded with our Chief, Deputy Chief, Rescue Pumper M1 and Pumper M3. The driver was extricated quickly by breaking the passenger side window and unlocking the doors, which gained quicker access to the patient than cutting the door. Units operated on scene for about 90 minutes until the vehicle was removed from the roadway.

At our last drill our members trained on vehicle extrication techniques using various tools across a few different scenarios. Members utilized spreaders, cutters, combi tools (Jaws of Life), glass cutters, center punches, crash kits and more.

The Montvale Fire Department is 100% volunteer and serves the borough 24/7. If you are interested in joining please reach out to us on Facebook Messenger or stop by the firehouse any Thursday night at 7:45pm.

At approximately 4:24pm on Monday, 5/25 the Montvale Fire Department was requested to a motor vehicle accident on Upper Saddle River Road for a pickup truck into a telephone pole. Units arrived on scene to find the telephone pole snapped impeding the roadway with power lines compromised and intermittent arcing. Orange and Rockland responded to secure the power to allow the vehicle to be removed from the roadway. Chief M10, Deputy M11, Engine M3 and Rescue Engine M1 operated on scene for a little over an hour before turning the scene over to Orange and Rockland. No injuries were reported.
