The burn ban currently in effect has been extended. Please remain extra vigilant. Please dispose of cigarette butts properly, secure trailer chains, and watch for sparks when working out doors. Even a small spark from a lawnmower blade can start a fire that can grow rapidly out of control. If you see smoke or flames...don't wait....call 911.

As the members of the 1st Air Cavalry Brigade mourn the loss of two heros, we pause to consider how fragile life is. Today America lost two of its own in a tragic accident. As first responders we are called upon to handle many incidents that are almost incomprehensible and it's through the dedication and professionalism of the men and women that make up our departments, that we are able to do so. Tonight we pause to remember those that were lost, send our thoughts and prayers to the family and friends of the aviators, and thank those that responded.

A burn ban has gone into effect for Bell County, effective 7 p.m. on August 11 through 7 p.m. August 21 unless extended or rescinded. High fire risk will exist on August 12th and 13th with high winds up to 40 mph expected and relative humidity in the low 30s. With the extreme dry conditions, any grass fire will spread rapidly. Please be extra careful with items like cigarette butts and trailer tow chains. A single spark or hot coal can lead to a rapidly spreading grass fire. If you see something, call 911 immediately.

It's no secret that summer has taken hold here in Central Texas. Hot days, heavy gear, and long responses make hydration a top priority. On July 8th at approximately 11:21 am, Morgan's Point Resort Fire - Rescue was dispatched to a transformer arcing with reported lines down at the intersection of Elm and Maple Trails. MPRFR responded with Squad 61 and 3 firefighters.

After arriving on scene, a tractor trailer was observed with snagged power lines on the trailer as it was attempting to transition through the neighborhood. The power lines were stretched across the trailer and broke the power pole causing the remaining lines to droop over the roadway. ONCOR workers were in the area and were able to respond immediately and remove electricity from the downed lines and transformer. MPRFR remained on scene until the lines were disconnected and the hazard across the roads was clear.

No injuries were reported.

FLASH FLOOD WARNING

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for areas including Morgan's Point Resort until 10 pm June 14th. Heavy rain up to 3 inches per hour is expected to fall and will rapidly flood low lying areas, creeks and streams. Please be extra careful if you are out and about this evening.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for areas in Central Texas to include Bell County from 7 pm tonight (14 June) through 7 pm tomorrow (15 June). Several inches of rain could fall resulting in runoff that could cause rivers, creeks and low lying areas to flood. These conditions are always hazardous and become particularly dangerous at night when water over the roadway is more difficult to see. Please be safe out there and remember...TURN AROUND, DON'T DROWN!!!
